| Quote: Remarkable_Rhinos "Whilst we're on capital letters...
This is going to alienate some on here but it annoys me when people ignore capitals in usernames/screen names. Which is obviously creeping in more with forums/twitter etc.
Twitter is particularly bad for it. Every time I see @rickygervais it annoys me. Why didn't he set it up as @RickyGervais. Likewise @stephenfry. More people should be like @DaveGorman.
And whilst we're on twitter (hopefully folks that use twitter will hopefully agree with this!), hashtags aren't allowed to have spaces, which is fine. But when people use hashtags that have multiple words in, I'd really like it if they used a capital at the start of each word. Not strictly grammatically correct but it makes it a lot easier to read. For example #RugbyLeague rather than #rugbyleague. Especially so when they start getting longer. Clare Balding (who AGAIN... is @clarebalding1, what's wrong with @ClareBalding1!!) is currently complaining about female representaion at the SPOTY Awards, and using the hashtag #womeninsport which would be much easier to read if she wrote #WomenInSport
On the forum display names etc. As you can see, I'm Remarkable_Rhinos. We also have LeedsBornWelshRoots, which is a prime example of how I'd like it to be!
leicester_rhino.... you should be ashamed of yourself. For a start... it's your username, and names have capitals. Secondly... Leicester is a place so leiceter_rhino is wrong on two counts. Hang your head in shame!!!
Consider my head hung. I need to change my name, as its very out of date, and its annoying me now. I'm thinking of becoming The Eagle. Does that pass you grammar tests?
FWIW, I'm from a computer programming background, hence the use of the underscore. When naming variables, lowercase separated by underscores is an accepted standard, especially in Oracle / Unix envrionments. Now I'm more OO focussed, I would certainly consider Hungarian notation for my username, but I may just go with English next time

I don't think you're allowed spaces, so it would need to be The_Eagle. Which I'm fine with.
Although the sentence... "I'm thinking of becoming The Eagle" is quite possibly my favourite sentence I've ever read on here!

Who says you can't have spaces?

Spot on, you're not allowed spaces in your user name, no siree, no spaces, no gaps, nothing. It has to be a continual text string.

Cold callers/salesman have started opening the conversation like they're your best mate. I despise it.

Me - Hello...?

Me - Fine thanks...?

Me - Do I know you...?

Me - No you can't Peter. P[ii[/iss off.

This sounds like my local branch of Yorkshire Bank...I don't want to be your buddy, i want you to serve me and allow me to get on with my life. Australian owners ruining a once fine Yorkshire institution.

I used to love Heaven & Hell. When I was a bright eyed eager 16year old it was the easiest club in town to get into and as an added bonus it was only about £12 to drink as much as u wanted , I spent many a good night in there but as soon as I could get into better places never went back. IIRC it shut a few years back after someone got stabbed.

Similar experiences to myself, although moving away from Leeds also hindered my knowledge.
I remember a couple of visits during the holidays in my uni years, and it would be raining in Heaven, with all the condensed sweat dripping from the ceiling. It was from that point I probably realised a better night could be had elsewhere

Whilst we're on banks and being buddies...
I paid a £2500 cheque into my current account from my savings (with a different bank!).
As I was paying it in the cashier said (and may I point out quite loud too. Certainly loud enough for the queue to hear!!)... "Ooooooh! £2500! Buying anything nice? Wish I had that money to transfer in! Aren't you lucky!".
Which if I'm honest, I find a whole new level of unprofessional. I was livid. I'm sometimes considered over sensitive but surely it's not just me that finds that appalling?

I may be wrong but at the time I was going I'm pretty sure it was £10 all you can drink on a Thursday night and £12 all you can drink on a Friday night. I also remember thinking that was a lot to find! We used to rock up as the doors opened because arriving at 11/12 o'clock wasn't getting us value for money. Dropped off in town by parents, straight to Heaven & Hell, £12 in, £3 share of the taxi home at 3am, night out for £15. Those were the days!

| I was discussing this thread with my secretary, and she wants me to contribute on her behalf...
She says what annoys her about people's attitudes these days is that nobody says "Bye" on the phone any more. She gets a lot of sales calls asking for me, and fields the calls (very well!) by telling them I'm not available (Important jobs, like contributing to forums etc), anyway, as the words "He's not available I'm afraid..." are on the way out of her mouth they've already hung up. That annoys her. She wanted me to share. Thanks.

I don't think I've ever been cited as a prime example before. Consider my day well-and-truly made.
BTW: LeedsBornWelshRoots is AKA @SilverbackGriff.

Similar memories to mine. Also remember Planet Earth had a similar all you can drink policy. With the added bonus of a bit of a work out continually trying to get the revolving dancefloor started!

Usually followed by some extensive stomach work, as you usually spent a reasonable amount of time that night throwing up
