Wasn't October 1939 then?
What was the Montrose? (During the Falklands I'd have known the class of every ship but anything post 1983 loses me).

In pedant mode, I think you'll find that it's called "Gauchos".

Called "Sous le Nez en Ville" because the original restaurant was in Ilkley opposite the Box Tree. Started I believe by disaffected staff (chef maybe) from there, hence their restaurant was under the nose of the Box Tree. The owners then opened the restaurant in Leeds hence "Sous le Nez en ville".
I've no doubt you're all suitably bored by that explanation.

Not sure tho probably after that.
I think it was owned by a lady of French extraction who had some "quirky" rules about diners & staff. So I think the fall-out was due to her idiosyncrasies.
So they opened a restaurant under her nose so to speak.

Wasn't everything 1982ish part of the "Tupperware" navy and a type 42? either that or part of the Galahad, Tristram supply ilk.
If memory serves there's only the Nottingham left from the 42's and that's because they spent so much bringing it back from Australasia when it ran aground.

The best one I ever had was at a decent hotel in London a few years back and no, that's not just because the BBC were paying for it ....

I can remember the Type 42 and also the type 22 Amazon class (that didn't perform too well). Then there was the older Leander class and possibly still a couple of County class destroyers and maybe the first of the type 23 Broadswords.
After that there was Invincible & Ark Royal, Fearless the landing ship and good old Endurance IIRC.

Hermes and Ark Royal wasn't it? Thought Invincible was in for refit.

I think we're both wrong!
It was Hermes - the converted fixed wing carrier - and Invincible.
Not certain if Ark Royal was completed by then.

| Went for tea with the bird at 'The Cow & Calf' just outside Ilkley tonight.
Duck and Liver paté starter followed by a mixed grill.
She had Camenbert followed by stuffed Pork.
It was bloody brilliant. The mixed grill was massive (Steak, lamb chop, gammon, sausage, black pudding & white pudding.).
If I eat again before Wednesday I will be suprised.

Did she have pork in cider?
