I'd thought about posting something along the lines of 'perhaps he was joking etc' on this thread last night. Seems someone can now confirm that was the case. Hardly a surprise to hear that one RL player was having a bit of banter with others, hardly a surprise to hear that not one of the departing players appears to have reacted adversely at the time and/or since, hardly a surprise that one of their number appears to have continued his conversation with one of Ali's colleagues.

I thank you for the reams of abuse. despite my screen name I am not actually much of a troll, but the inability to consider an unpopular fact meant I was left with only my own entertainment, so perhaps took it a bit far afterwards. The number of derogatory replies attests to my success in this, with even one desperate attempt to call me racist, several oh so original attempts to infer I was intimate with sheep (I look forward when an Englishman can come up with a better slur than that) and the usual flatcapper abuse about our club, fans, country, players etc and the comparison to a female's genitals. All of you against poor little me.

As it is, I have cooled off about Comical Ali and his "hilarious" jest. Though I think he shall remain part of my avatar for the time being in tribute to his comedy genius.

Thank you for an entertaining day or two. I shall probably return in due course. And please don't take it all too seriously. It's only an internet messageboard after all.
