A dog is for Christmas!: |
|
| Quote: G1 "Not this team, no. Not me.
You see, our fekkwitts who slate a player like Harris and throw around the term "loyalty" really don't understand what it means.
I'll tell you what it means to me. It means to me that this group of players is the greatest collection in our clubs history. Before they came along, we'd been champions 4 times in over 100 years. These boys have brought us 3 championships in 5 years and I don't think they're quite done yet, despite some defeats in April.
This is our time in the sunshine. This is the greatest era in our clubs history. Legendary names like Lewis Jones, Arthur Clues, John Holmes and David Ward didn't do what these lads have done. This era won't last, of course it won't. But whilst these lads are in the shirt they'll get no boo-ing from me, even if they don't win another game for the next three years.
You see, I crave loyalty from the players, just like other fans. But the players deserve our loyalty too, especially players who have delivered what these lads have.'"
Just about sums it up.
Some of our fans are only used to a winning team and dont like it now we aren't all conquering. Totally agree with the loyalty point. Fans expect players to be loyal but how is booing showing loyalty.
Clear double standards.

Actually I didn't boo.
But I did give some choice cursing of my own, whilst mindfull that I had my kids with me.
And everybody paying into that game has a right to do that if they choose, or boo. Only a buffon with head up his own posteria would say and think otherwise.
I think even you will be fair to me here, and remember that I have continually stated all season so far, that I don't care about losing (and booing at a result is silly), but the level of performance is what matters. What we are getting now is a joke.
Every season at home, my party go through saying thats the worst team we have seen at HQ this season. In the past, like Leigh, Cas, etc. This season, been totally honest, we are the worst team I have seen.

Fair enough, I dont boo either. I clapped Quins performance, that's it.

You're right. They pay their money, they make their choice. Hardly showing loyalty though are they? A supporter is someone who supports their team through thick and thin, not booing them off after some disappointing defeats.
These are the same people who probably boo players who leave to earn more money elsewhere.
I think booing is disrespectful.

Not sure you're right to be honest. 'Support' is for a club normally resulting from your place of birth, very rarely for individuals, although we all have favourites and players we respect etc.
Many of those who booed will have been there long before we began to win and will still be there long after the current success has gone. Why people boo is a matter for them. Booing simply because you lose, not really much of a reason, booing because of a lack of application and/or effort from those you know are capable of better? Different perhaps?
I didn't boo last night, I don't think there was any need, but I won't get all precious about those that did.

| Quote: EmmaMur01 "Yes it is different.'"
Why becasue you say so therefore no one else can have an opinion?
Quote: EmmaMur01 "You think that booing a team OFF after they have put in a bad performance is not different to shouting abuse at ONE PLAYER BEFORE he has played the match?'"
again Sarcastic (we'll get to that in a moment) is different to abuse. And after a string of average performances and on the back of 2 very poor ones one in which he dropped the ball mid air diving for the line to score (which would have won us the game as a result we lost it after) of which i spent money and time which you say is a good enough reason to boo the team then yes i do think its fine. Oh and i have no doubt the booing last night was because of the past 2 weeks performances against Bulls and Salford.
Quote: EmmaMur01 "BTW - it wasn't sarcastic applause. You know that and I know that.'"
Pre-match a player (Toopi) who had striggled to keep old of the ball or catch it was warming up catching the high ball to which 50% of Leeds fans cheered when it was caught (at which point 2 Leeds players we're laughing about).
so cheering when he caught the ball when the previous 2 games he couldnt manage it you dont think is sarcastic?
Quote: EmmaMur01 "Slightly off on a tangent. Would you have Toopi in the team at the moment if he was fit and well?'"
I'd have Kevin Iro, Richie Blackmore, Toni Caroll and Toopi in the team if i could but it cant happen.
Everyone knows it's a problem which is why teams keep attacking us down that side, every other coach knows it so either ours doesnt and is stupid and shouldnt be coaching or he does know and has told the sleeve whos deciding to spend on keeping the Tykes in the Premier League rather then invest in the Rhinos.
either way we have a problem!

| Quote: Hollywood Harrigan "Why?
What does this achieve?
Even if we were bottom I wouldnt boo the team but as we are in a top position I find it pretty stupid really.
We do not have the God given right to win every game and we must learn that the standard below us is improving now that the majority of the teams are using the full cap (especially as we are not).
Get over it and get behind the team when we are losing.'"
They'll all be singing from a different hym sheet when we make history in october at old trafford.

eeerm..... on a Point of Order.
Danny does not have his head up his own posterior, it has been firmly wedged up Gareth's for years!
Which would indeed explain why he comes out with so much poop
Apart from that, an excellent post.

| Not read the full thread so if this has already been said then sorry but…
You pays your money, you takes your choice. If some feel like they need to vocalise their displeasure then that’s their choice.
Personally I think the lads don’t deliberately go out there to play badly or purposely decide to give away cheap ball and defend like they have wax hands.
I would never boo the team that I’ve paid to watch, I respect what they do too much and IMO I think it shows disrespect.

| What's wrong with booing?
If some self-righteous people on here are to be believed you're not a loyal fan if you boo. You've no right to boo.
I've been supporting Leeds for over 20 years. Did I boo them against Quins? No. Have I ever booed them? Yes. And that doesn't make me any less of a supporter or any less 'loyal' than someone who doesn't.
If people want to boo, let them. Rugby is a sport, it's entertainment. The fans pay their money for the experience, to watch the show. If booing makes them feel better then who's to say there's anything wrong with that.

McGuire is one of the best stand offs in the history of this club. Where would you play him?

People who win nowt in their playing career, people who end up getting sacked in their coaching career, people who end of with a failed business and a bankruptcy, people who's only role in a game they feel owe it a living are to snipe in an insipid column in a monthly magazine.
Still at least such a person is not as bad as the kind loser who would worship such "character".
