Quote: The JokerĀ® "Do Ali Lauitiiti & Kylie Leuluai count on the Quota?, I'm pretty sure that they don't...'"

As it's now termed 'overseas trained' I hope they do count on the quota.

Although by the time the RFL and the lawyers were finished with the exemptions last season for already contracted players, perhaps there's only Buderus currently on there.

I'd like us to sign a prop and a centre, but won't lose too much sleep if we don't.

We currently have 4 props and not that much behind them in terms of young players knocking at the door. It seems we go with 4 props per game, meaning that they won't get any breaks (other than CC weekends) for the whole season.

On the centre, clearly we have a bit of an issue at present, and with Keith not getting any younger he will need replacing in 2011 if not next year, and given our current weakness on the right, I'd prefer us to make a move sooner rather than later and get an experienced top class centre in.

I'm not massively worried about our prospects for the GF, but I do feel we could be helping ourselves a little more than we currently are.

I think everyone wants a centre. But where? There are many fans from other clubs saying they are lacking a quality centre.

i'm not sure smith will make it as a centre but i'm happy to let him have a go, and if bluey rates him there then i'll go with that.

if i had the choice i would rather have another forward, just to rest and rotate the pack. couple of injuries in there and we would be struggling.eastwood would have made all the difference

I'm more worried about prop than centre. At least we have options at centre.

What happens if JP gets a serious injury? I am not overjoyed with the prospect of Lauitiiti and JJB at prop. I imagine Eastwood would have been expected to fill in there had he arrived, which suggests that a forward is the club's priority as well.

In the last two seasons we've lost a couple of bona-fide front-rowers in Thackray and Scruton who have not been replaced. I suppose Burgess could count as a replacement for Thackray, but I still think we are a prop light at present.

If Peacock is out, we'd use Kirke at prop - a role he has filled frequently.
Still leaves us with JJB, Ali and Ablett in the second row.

Out Of Contract

Ashley Gibson
Ian Kirke
Kylie Leuluai
Lee Smith
Keith Senior
Carl Ablett
Simon Worrall

So looking at the list of Out Of Contract players at the end of the season who in your opinion deserve to sign an extension?

I'd be looking to do the bold bits above. Replace Worrall with Manning and pick up a centre, prop, and Eastwood if he still wants to come and can do so.

With the lack of centres knocking about I'd give Senior another year.

Leeds are in pretty much the same position they have been for years, second best to Saints only. Saints have a far weaker squad than Leeds, so again a Grand Final win from second looks a likely outcome for Leeds this season.

Leeds made a mistake in signing Buderus. He's undoubtedly a quality player, but you simply don't need both Diskin and Buderus as they don't complament each other at all. That would have enabled you to be in a position to sign an international second rower without a criminal record.

I still expect Leeds to be in the market for the next NRL player to disgrace themselves and be let go. Two or three players a year move to SL late on and Leeds will be in prime position to take one of these.

Yeah i'd probably agree with you there, A new Centre possibly Sia Soliola if we are still interested plus Greg Eastwood in the Second Row and like you say another Prop or two depending on whether Kylie bucks his ideas up...
Quote: batleyrhino "Out Of Contract

Ashley Gibson (Release) - If Sia Soliola or another Centre is brought in
Ian Kirke - 2 Year deal, i'd imagine he's on a decent squad mans wage and i would like to see him retained
Kylie Leuluai - If he can up his work rate i'd give him 1 more year otherwise he can go chase the cash at Wigan
Lee Smith - Must be retained and given a 3/4 year deal IMO, Easily Leeds best player so far this season when fit
Keith Senior - Worrying our best Centre and i'd choose him other Gibson on a 1 year deal should he be on reduced money, could rotate with Kallum Watkins
Carl Ablett - I like Carl Ablett but he hasn't been too great this season and has come in for a lot of flack but personally i'd give him an extra year to prove himself
Simon Worrall - Nothing more than a Reserve/Squad man and if Dane Manning or another player is given a run and impresses i doubt we will see Worrall next season'"

we're short. We have a weaker squad that last year. Alot of kids mentioned in that 25 yet when you look for proven talent the list of 25 gets shorter.

Teams who have cheated the cap have bought a title with the extra advantage. Us not using the resources we have are effectively giving the competition that same advantage ie cheating ourselves.
