| Defense is a real worry. Were getting battered in the opening quarter. Good spirit to get back into it. Falloon looks poor. Signed as a hooker who can defend the middle, but can't. Galloway is getting better.

| Burrow excellent after the "master stroke" from our coach of moving him to the position he was so good last week after 20 minutes of rubbish with Falloon at 9.
Our defence out wide was very good, Watkins and Jimmy K were excellent but up the middle we were woefull at times.
How long did Delaney last? Is there anybody assessing the actual fitness of our players? Ablett obviously playing injured as well.
Galloway is a lamppost in defence. Our middle is a sieve.
There was some evidence that our halves were starting to click at times but unless we fill in all the gaping holes in the middle of the field it will be pointless. However, our last tackle short kicking game is non existent and we have absolutely zero structure with the ball near the opposition line. It's all off the cuff.
I wish McD would stop talking about "things beyond our control" because it's clear a lot of the things within his control are rubbish.

| When Galloway remembers hes not allowed to tackle around the head he's actually one of our better middle defenders but it's the 2 or 3 pens a game which put too much issue on our line

| The pens seem lazy with him as well, especially as he'll pull off at leat one textbook tackle (tonight was one on Roby I think that just cut him down) a game. Just needs to bend his back.

| Better performance this week and pleasingly the attack is better.
I've criticised Burrow so far this season but the last 2 games he's been brilliant. Honourable mentions for Handley, Lilley, Garbutt, Galloway, Singleton and JJB and there's others I've missed I'm sure.
Not saying everything's great but markedly better in my opinion.

| Defence in that middle unit is an absolute shambles, seemingly irrespective of personnel. Without Ward and Ferres we must have the slowest and least mobile bunch of forwards in SL. Any time the opposition puts any pace or changes of direction into the game we simply can't cope.
Improved a bit when Mullally and Singleton on the field, but Baldwinson has to get a go next week. He can't possibly be any worse. We seem to have acquired a winter rugby pack for a summer game. We don't have an LMS, a Bateman - the sort of athletic back rowers who can cover the ground defensively, but can also use their footwork to leave defenders grabbing.

| We conceded 38 points. That's not "good".

Great game to watch - ball being thrown around, some great attacking moves - much rather watch an unstructured game like this than defensive bore-fest

Same here. I enjoy a good high intensity defensive game too but it's been a while since we've seen the ball thrown around like that by both teams.

Truly awful up the middle. JJB seemed to be responsible for tackling everyone running between Watkins and Keinhorst.

Summed up for Fages second try, when Galloway had a clean shot at Luke Walsh but fell off the tackle.
There seems to be a disconnect between the middle four and the edges as well, big gaps on our own line between the prop/hooker/loose and the edge second rower. Players drifting out watching runners rather than defending from the inside out, Ablett guilty of that a couple of times early on.

| Quote: Big Jim Slade "At least attacking wise that was closer to what we're capable of.
To come that close, away from home, when we've lost Zak (our single most important player now IMO) for the last half hour, no Ablett, no Delaney and if the ref had had the balls to sin bin Amor or if we'd had a little bit of luck with the bounce of the ball we could have won - that's a notable change from being outplayed by Hull Kr and Salford. Yes, our defence around the ruck is dreadful, but by and large our scrambling defence is still pretty good.
When you think that we were missing 4 of our first choice back 7 (5 by the end) then to score that many points bodes very well. Our best defence has always been the potency of our attack, and that looks to be on it's way back. Personally I have renewed hope.'"
Why would the ref sin bin Amor?

Ablett was lead footed early on, but no way he was fit at the start of the match.

For holding back a Leeds player during a break. I'd have to see it again to see if it was a definite sin bin but certainly had potential to be.
