I think he is much better than the Sinfield we have for the last two years. I didn't mention Sinfield as he has already announced he will not be here. Hence we are currently left with Sutcliffe, Burrow and the aged McGuire, hence why I said he was a damn site better than what we have.

I notice the quick defence of your little favourite, but really there was no need. Had you asked me this three years back, I wouldn't have put Widdop better than Sinfield or McGuire, but we are talking about 2016 now, and he is a damn site better.

No. I don't believe he will ever be as good as Sinfield. But that is not an issue, as Sinfield was an extremely good player, one of the best. Just as McGuire was. Sutcliffe may well turn out to be a very good player still though, who knows maybe better than Widdop in a few years. But right now I repeat, Widdop is a damn site better player than the three we have for the half backs role, Sutcliffe, Burrow, and McGuire.

Up until his extended run in the half backs I thought Sutcliffe would never fit that role However he's changed my opinion big time. Give him time and I fully expect a player who will be committed to taking on leadership and being our in game kicker

Yet after 2016 we need another halfback, which seems to be overlooked. The club have obviously decided they need a top halfback to replace Sinfield, and I don't think they are wrong. I don't think the club are looking to a future without Sutcliffe, I think they are looking for the right move for 2016. A signing like Widdop is the sort of move a club like Leeds need to make. Sutcliffe will not be overlooked and will be the 2017 replacement.
