| For the Bradford game it was poor selection in the centre for me two back rowers playing there.
The London game for me was down to the team, we were up and in control, not the managers fault in my opinion that's on the team.
Ultimately the tactic from both these games was successful as we won the challenge cup, which is what it was all about. The squad we have should have been easily be able to deal with both relegation teams.
Will be interesting to see how those who were left out respond, as I assume a large portion of them will be around the squad this coming week, particulary Ward, who has slipped well down the pecking order, I imagine Kev who has experienced something similar in his early career will be putting an arm around him and having a word

| Quote: DHM "London was an awful result, add that to dropped points against Bradford and Wakefield and you have a problem. The pressure it puts us under now gives the team no breathing space to recover from the Wembley experience. We now have no buffer and a top 4 position looks very doubtful. I can't see logically that you go and work so hard early season to then blow it all with a set of shocking results and performances. I do beleive that McD would have wanted to be able to concetrate on using the Saints and Wigan games as warm ups - with little win/lose pressure to shake off the Wembley hangover and focus on performance and build towards the playoffs. Now that's changed.
Saturday was something very special, but I suspect the coaching team now has a real mission now and once the Wembley euphoria has died down the reality of those dropped points, precarious top 4 position, and poor performances will be back in the minds of the players. I don't doubt the guys can do it, but I would bet serious money they didn't plan to have to do it this way.'"
This is why people were critical of the results against london and bradford. Had they just been competent, and closed out winning positions, they would be in a great position to do the treble or finish in the top 2. Now, only points difference seperates us from 6th place.

icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg |

| You have to credit McDermott for the plan but you have to credit the players for having the ability to carry it out. McDermott is a good coach, of that there is little doubt, however he is coaching a team of truly exceptional players. You can't blame the players when things go wrong and then praise the coach when they go well.
Seeing the players on Saturday you have to give McDermott some credit for putting the whole season on the line to enable the players to achieve the one thing that has eluded them for so long. I for one will not be so disappointed if Saturday is the high point of the season. McDermott's grasping of the importance to the players should be applauded.

Works both ways on both fronts. For Good results and bad both the players and the fishes have part of the responsiility, however, once the team is out on the pitch the influence on what happens is limited, to use of subs, observations, and reverting to a plan b.
At London it looks like we had got into a position to win, and then through it away

If you think the majority view of posters (if that is what occurred after the London debacle) on an internet message board should hold sway or change personally held opinions why do you still support the selection of Burrow as starting hooker?
Do you give equal weight to every view shared on here - some posters don't even try to discuss rugby matters anymore.

I can't quote him, but during his post match interview, he refered to the win as the final chapter of the book that was this season. I did pick up on it at the time, there has been speculation that the comment may have been Mac signing off. But I'm not sure that he meant anymore than what he said.
BTW Was that the best of our EIGHT WINS? It felt like it to me.

| "That's the final chapter of the book,""For us to make the Grand Final is a great story and we've just capped off the final chapter. "I have been saying to my players all week that you don't get many chances to have moments in life that stand out where every man, jack and his dog up the country will think, 'They can't go and win the Grand Final can they? Not from where they were'. Danny McGuire with the man of the match prize "We've done it. That group of people over there have gone through every emotion going in the last 18 months, the whole club. "This isn't just a coach's win or the players' win. Everybody at Leeds Rhinos, including the fans, who stood with us when the dark times were really, really dark, this is everybody's. The whole club deserves this. "Never did I dream in my wildest dreams that we'd get to Old Trafford never mind win it. Now look at us. "It's the best win ever this one."
