Are we seriously writing players off after 2/3 games at FB as not good enough for the shirt on a regular basis?
Admittedly our options at FB aren't exactly the same type of FB as Webb but at least give whoever gets the gig if at all time to settle in there and also the team to settle down to the new FB aswell.'"

Leeds need another mature head somewhere in the backline. Otherwise we have too many kids learning their positions at the same time, plus Hall. Full-back is too much of a pivotal position these days.

The only player who comes close to offering the qualities Leeds need is Lee Smith, but he also seems to be out of sorts and some way off recapturing his pre-Union form. I'm not saying he's definitely unfit for this role, but if he can't do it I think it is time for the club to look elsewhere.

Anyway, I think we're wasting far too much energy discussing this seriously (see my previous post in this thread) until anything can be substantiated icon_wink.gif That said, Webb's probably not got that many seasons left in him, so it will be interesting to see what the longer-term options are in this position.

As a Leeds supporter I sincerely hope BJB's handling under high balls improves, no matter what position he plays. And no one wants Lee Smith to regain his form and confidence more than me. But no, as a matter of fact I don't think we have an adequate replacement for Brent Webb at the club at this moment in time. And that is more of a compliment to Brent than anything else. It is all hypothetical at any rate!

Replacing a player isn't about replacing someone with an identical skill set. If thats the case we're screwed in the next 2 or 3 years. No, what you need to do is to make sure that what is offered by a player is offset by the squad as a whole. So, BJB or Smith may not have the passing game of Webb, but we may get that from Ward, or Hood, or some of the other players coming through. BJB/Smith have other attributes which also make them good fullbacks on their day

I wasn't being serious, it was just the fact he's wanting into Superleague and we may have a FB slot open at the end of the season.

Roosters are not going to extend his contract and as you say Minichiello has stated he wants to play in SL. Played in 18 Tests and over 20 SOO games so has loads of experience which as Exeter Rhino said on this thread is what is needed if Webb goes and all the other backs are relatively young and inexperienced. He's had his share of injuries but is the stand-out full-back in the NRL this year. Warrington were favourites to sign him as he would replace Hodgson but you never know!

You would think so but I read somewhere that Bosc would move to fullback. I don't think we should under-estimate Danny Buderus's influence. He genuinely enjoyed his time with the Rhinos and would give a good reference to anybody who asked. He is also a friend of Minichiello. Probably Warrington are still favourites. One thing for sure is that GH will be aware of the options. Also forget about Smith as the fullback as from what I've heard he might be playing elsewhere next year.

I would imagine billy slater would argue about the stand out full back in the NRL tag!
