Before SL came about, the seasons started in one particular year and ended in the year after, unlike now where'by the seasons start and end in the same calendar year!
So a team that won a particular trophy in the season 1983-84 for example, actually goes down in the record books as winning it in the 1983 season, which is when Leeds won it, unless as i stated that i never had Danny down as being a Hull KR supporter!

| Top 5 :
2004 Grand Final - never have I ever felt as much joy as a Leeds fan than then. Years of if's, but's, and maybe's just evaporated. I was speechless for words for hours after the game.
2003 CC Semi Final - what a kick by Sinny, what a game. When McGuire scored in the corner to put us 2 points behind everyone around me was going crazy with the try, but time seemed to stand still, and I actually sat down in my chair, saying over and over "he still needs to kick it"......I was directly in line with it, and although it's cliched, it really was over from the moment he left his boot.
I don't think I've ever seen so many fans run back to their seats. The John Smith's stand (as it was then), was half empty, and then all of a sudden full again !!
2007 Grand Final - Leeds were just brilliant, almost, in my opinion, the most perefct game of rugby. Scott Donalds try has me in tears with excitement, at that point I knew we had won the trophy.
Premiership Play off (not sure of the year) - away at Cas, and Schoey burrowing over to win it in the last minute, after being sin binned earlier. I have never seen my Uncle go crazy at a try before.....he did that day.
1982 (I think) - JPS Semi Final at Huddersfield v Leigh - Des Drummonds dropped ball try that was awarded, Mark Conway scoring for Leeds, I would have been about 7 years old at the time and that was my first moment of male bonding at a sports event, when I hugged my Dad as Leeds won. He died last year, so that moment will always have a special place in my heart.

10-Dec-83. It was the prelude to Kifaru's 83/84 JP Final win V Widnes at Central Park, where one half of the goalpost had snapped in two the night before in a storm.
No Mark Conway playing in that semi final at Fartown though. I think you're perhaps mixing two consecutive JP semis at Fartown into one. The season before (82/83) Conway kicked all Leeds' points in a 8-2 win V Widnes.
And (although I don't know you) I'm sorry to hear about your dad.

The next game in the same competition was the first final I attended without my Dad taking me. It set me up perfectly for the next 20 years of being a Leeds fan.

No worries. I suffered a loss of my own late last year and people on here were very kind even though non knew me personally, I was touched.

Sure, Leeds won 18-11 with tries from Keith Rayne (2) and Paul Prendiville and David Creasser adding three goals. For Leigh tries came from Jeff Clarke and Des Drummond, a goal from John Woods and a drop goal from Steve Donlan. 7-2 to Leigh at half time, the referee was Fred Lindop and the attendance was 5,740.

Oh to have been born a Wigan fan that day of re-awakening under Alex Murphy. The next 15 years must have been something else.

982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

LEEDS RHINOS - HISTORY MAKERS-2007, 2008 and 2009 Champions
[quote="TheOtherOne":7qqvi4ts]Leeds are still the best team in the competition so if we do have to play them I would hope it's at Knowsley Road with home advantage giving us a chance to knock them out. If somehow we end up playing them at Old Trafford I can only see one outcome

There are also opposition fans chiming in with their top 5's for their specific sides.
I would also like to know the parameters.

Give both pre and post Rhinos and stop trying to be clever.

I went to this game TVOC and i can recall Des Drummonds try in the right hand corner, he dived and dropped the ball in mid-air, hence the try was awarded by Fred

The same corner as Alan Smith had scored in to win the 1980 Yorkshire Cup final against Hull KR and turn the form book on it's head. Hull KR unbeaten domestically and sat on top of the 1st division against a disrupted and miss-firing Loiners with Syd Hynes playing ducks and drakes with the back division. Just to add that the ground appeared to be seven or eight tenths full of Robins.
Drummond's 'TRY' went on to receive the prestigious BBC Rugby League 'Try Of The Season' Award.
Just how much contempt can one publically owned broadcaster have for one sport?
