I agree but is there an overseas forward worth signing as we haven't been linked with anyone other than Boyd who has been ruled out. Also where will we get an outside back from SL?

Ultimately if theres no overseas forward of the desired mould available then it would be a shot to nothing to give Field a year and see if he can prove himeself.

I think that is what will happen, Field covers several positions and will probably start on the wing. We should have a Quota place next season for a marquee forward.

The. NRL roundabout isn’t really moving yet, there will be other players coming available. There’s no rush to jump in right now, we should wait to get the right player, and if that means we have to blood kids in the backs so be it.

That would be ideal however I can understand clubs not wanting to take a chance on young kids while relegation remains but thats a whole new thread

What I don’t understand is, agar said Merrin would only be free to go if we had a replacement in line. Merrin left, agar said we had options. So where is our replacement? Merrin was our best player last year in my opinion and we need to replace him. Prior is not his replacement.

Prior couldn't be signed without Merrin leaving who isn't on marquee money. When Martin's passport comes through then maybe then will sign a marquee player or we may leave it till later in the season or even next year.

Yes I think the key to all this is Martin getting his passport. The dominoes will then fall. However theres no doubt Merrin doing a uturn has left us snookered for a while

Very possibly. If they are really after Jai Field, then there would have to be another Brit if they wanted to spend Marquee money. I can’t see a Brit worth it in a position we need.

Certainly none that their clubs would be willing to sell. Walmsley would be my pick and hes a yorkshireman but cant see saints selling at any price.
