| Quote: batleyrhino "Neil James. Looked like a monster of a forward, never lived up to it and was quickly shipped out'"
Neil james was a good friend of my cousin, my cousin went to Australia when he was 7 the family came back for a couple of years when he was 17-18 was at Wakefield colts with Neil james and Gary Price, they really really wanted to sign my cousin but he hated the weather they all moved back to Australia where he joined the army.
But they always looke neil James up when they came back to visit.

Vass the best junior prospect of all time according to doug laughton, (untill kevin Sinfield) never quite lived up to it. He was a good champion standard player.

| My memory may be failing me, but did we have a big Aussie (Threequarter, I think) called Bob Landers who just played a few games?

| Pat Mitchell, Andy & Ian Mackintosh.
Alan Rathbone mentioned earlier in this thread cost Leeds £35k and did not last the first half of his debut, over a grand a minute. He never played professional RL again. Sadly passed away a couple of years back.

Played in and was sent off in the Charity Shield match in Dublin, IIRC. I'd had a tremendous amount to drink prior to and during that match, so I might have got that wrong.
Also, I think he played in our second mid-90s Wembley defeat to the Pies. I think I threw him my scarf as they made a lap of honour to thank the fans. Again, I'd been drinking, so might have mis-remembered.

Now you've said that, it was the first one. The first time seeing the Loiners at Wembley, I stayed for the lap of honour. It helped that they gave a half decent account of themselves.
The following year I wasn't in such a forgiving mood, and scarpered at the hooter.

Ditto. Did you partake in the pitch invasion?

No, only time I was ever on the pitch at Central Park was for the trophy presentation in the Regal Trophy Final 1984!

Neil Lean from Hunslet, Tony Burke from Bramley and Andy Sykes from the colts. We seemed to try out a few young props in that era.
