Random paper talk suggesting Lui is unhappy with the pressure at Leeds and wants to leave meaning we are free to sign Hastings who wants to come to us.

Way too many ifs and buts in there for me but that's what is out there.

Where on Earth did you hear this? I have seen nothing of the sort, Hastings doesn’t want to come hear, he turned us down!

Hastings not homesick

Reports that Jackson Hastings is homesick are wide of the mark, with speculation Down Under that he is unhappy with certain terms of his Wigan Warriors contract.

An immediate move to the NRL seems unlikely with talk he may even end up at another Super League club. Leeds Rhinos, who he turned down to sign for Wigan, have expressed a desire to add a marquee player while Hastings posted a picture on his instagram account last week wearing a Toronto Wolfpack cap.

With Luke Gale already in for 2020, any move for Jackson Hastings would mean shifting someone on at Headingley, amidst talk that Robert Lui is unsettled after his mid-season move from Salford Red Devils.

The increased attention on the Rhinos, especially after their poor campaign last term, is being cited as a possible reason.

I don't know about his shoulder but I do know he doesn't player big minutes.He would want marquee money and I'm not convinced he'd be worth it.If he was to come I would only offer a 12 month contract if he's a success then if he wants to stay then offer him a deal.I feel the season after this there will be better players available than Boyd.

I don't particularly want to give this credibility by discussing it at a certain level but...

If Lui did want to go I do feel giving the chance to mclelland with Myler as back up would be a better long term bet.

Hastings would stay a year at the most and be unsettled for much of that as he eyes the NRL.

Sounds like a load of rubbish IMO, how would Lui be under pressure they only got back to pre season a few weeks ago!

Someone has said he wont return to Wigan but another SL club.
Pure speculation maybe and not sure what pressure Lui is under yet without us starting the season.
But a year with us to develop McLelland wouldn`t go amiss imo.
Maybe Lui and Myler to Salford.

All sounds bonkers to me. If Hastings is not happy with Wigan contract, why sign it?

Martin has been the last player to return for pre season (I don’t think he’s back as of yet?) could that have been to do with the PNG passport?

Personally I don’t believe any of that and going for Hastings would be just as bad as the Merrin saga as NRL clubs will come calling for him and he will go! I don’t understand why Lui would be under pressure? Gale is partnering him? Myler and Mclleland chasing a place? It does not make sense at all! We don’t need another halfback, we need a prop and a decent utility!

It's improbable that Hastings would quit Wigan for Leeds but remember we were, by far, his preferred option - but unlike Wigan we wouldn't agree to the get out clause. Absolutely rightly.

If we gazumped Wigan for him now there would be an almighty transfer fee or a Hetherington vs Lenaghan court case which would be one for the ages like the Harris one. In short, it's almost impossible to happen.

Add to that we no longer need him.

Sounds like utter nonsense. How would Hastings 'quit' Wigan to join any SL side? Would he try the Solomona route of 'retiring' from Wigan?

I hope we either get someone sorted soon if we're looking at one or more signings. Wouldn't want to go too deep into preseason without the squad settled as there have been so many changes.

No idea why Hastings seems to have cooled on Wigan but this paper report seems just fantasy 2+2=125.Why would Lui feel pressure when we haven't kicked off yet.More pressure last year so if he doesn't like pressure why leave Salford who were flying high to come to Leeds who were under pressure of relegation.

Surely the Hastings issues are more to do with not wanting to come back to England rather than a move from Salford to Wigan. Sounds like .

I would definitely take Kyle Turner. He's at the right age also and reading his interview he said he's happy to move his family around as they are a few years away from school age. I think we are pretty sorted at Prop now with Ava and Prior as starting props and Cuthbo / Oledzki and Crosby to rotate. I think we actually look a little bare in the second row now after Merrin has gone. Martin and Mellor to start but the only real back up is Smith / Donaldson / Ward and Sutcliffe. That doesn't excite me too much if we get injuries. I would prefer to either keep hold of the marquee spot until if / when the right player becomes available OR go big on a British winger to replace Briscoe.
