It's the whole 'homophobic language' debate again really - what is acceptable and unacceptable to one person might be different to another.

To use your analogy, as someone more on the 'SRIW' end of the spectrum I suspect I would disagree with a darn-sight more than some would with what I assume you are implying the 'MNMC' might say. But then, the MNMC probably won't be acting like SRIWs on message boards because they are less inclined to do so.

Different people with different outlooks, on different places on a continuum - not necessarily the exact same individual picking and choosing different positions depending on where they are at that specific time.

Firstly I wasn't talking to or about you. Second of all, The Internet is a wonderful place, waiting for someone to be offended by something. Some pipe up if it offends them directly (Religion, Sexuality, Direct personal attack, etc...). Others pipe up because they like the sound of their own voice.

I didn't think you were talking about me, I just wanted to point out that yobs making comments in the street and people taking the moral high ground online are probably different people.

I will acknowledge that part of my own 'issue' in this is that in my work I support members of the public with their personal issues and therefore have heard directly from people who have experienced victimisation from people in society over things like their gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and class and how this adversely impacts on their self-esteem.

I think the people who are on the receiving end of abusive / disrespectful comments think about them a lot more than the people who say them ever do. In saying this I am not having a go at you per se, but I have supported a lot of females (young people and adults) who are impacted by being spoken to / at as though they are objects and how this has dented their self-belief. I would be letting myself down if I didn't raise comment saying I disagreed when such comments are made on here.

I did it on the ZH thread too a few times and got derided at times on that - which was fair enough because my view is not 'right' or 'wrong' it is just 'my view'.

I understand what you are saying, but really, my comments will not get back to the person with her Tits painted Gold. And I'm pretty sure that she is expecting comments like that and wouldn't really care because she is 1. Selling her Body for Money and 2. Not shy about doing it. Basically, if you make money from exposing your naked body to a global audience, tough luck.
