It's all relative. Our crowds for the last 2 seasons home play-off games were pitifully low. Especially given that Hull brought an excellent following and Wakefield's was fairly sizeable too. It happens all the time, home attendances are usually pretty poor but supporters travel well in the play-offs.

Correct.
Leeds V Wakefield last year recorded an attendance of 9,044 (which was lower than the attendance for the Boxing Day friendly!) and Leeds V Hull in 2011 recorded an attendance of 9,075.
Meaningful games in SL are poorly supported.
The game resides within a cheap season-ticket culture which isn't healthy.

I thought the meaningful games started next week? if not even the week after?

The meaningful games do start in 2 weeks time IMO.
But tonight was a meaningful game for Hull was it not?
Play-off and Challenge Cup attendances provide a more accurate insight into the true popularity of the current product on offer.

i will say that i was impressed with hull defence tonight, just as i was last night with Huddersfield's despite them losing. Seems a few times have learnt that its not all about scoring tries, defending repeats sets is where the games are really won these days.
only real shame tonight was that menzies try was ruled out, it was a try for mine at slow speeds (he had his arms and/or fingers on the ball at all times), At real speed it was a dead set try and would have shown if hull really have the stones to mix it with the big boys this year

| I can't say I was impressed with anything about the game.
Poor conditions, poor handling, poor attendance - poor game.
I really admire Steve Menzies - shame he had to bow out in such a dull game.

| I thought it was fancy dress and the Hull fans had turned up dressed as seats.

| As much as anything else, I think the play off attendance figures reflect the fact that money is still tight for many. When faced with spending on a game that you can watch on TV@ home if you have the subscription or down the local if not, I'd guess quite a few would elect to take the path of least expenditure.

In all seriousness though. All the great games and stadiums that Steve Menzies has played in, Its a real shame that his career has ended in a wet, empty stadium in cod land!!!
