| Morley was NEVER coming back to Leeds.
That's why he signed short-term for the Bulls and denied us back-to-back titles in 2005.

he/his agent offered us his services at the end of 2005 but we rejected the offer and he went to the Bulls and picked up a GF ring. Who knows where he might have ended up had he come back to us for that 'guest' stint in 2005?
At the time I agreed with GH that it seemed wrong to drop someone to let Morley come back to keep match fit for GB and come in for the glory run to the GF. Looking back now though and how he's performed at the Wire I would have loved him and Peacock leading our pack. That said had we signed Morley full time when he returned to the UK would we have got Peacock?

| Miscreant, you couldn't be more wrong. Morley wanted to come back to Leeds for the short term deal, but we told the truth and couldn't afford him and that we didn't want to displace anyone who had earned it. History says the Bulls were a little less honest.
He was lined up to come back to Leeds after his time with the Roosters, but Simon Moran and Warrington made him an offer he couldn't refuse...

| Do Leeds have a first option on Ellis like they did with Harris.?
Doubt Cas will be able to afford if he comes back in next 2 years as someone else will offer more money. Being a short career you have to take what you can get if it's more sentiment will probably play no part in his decision even after reading this article.

He originally signed for Wests for less than what he was on at Leeds. It just happened to coincide with the economic turn arounds of each country so he's now on more
But I reckon he'd go to Cas even if someone came in with a higher offer, unless it was too good to turn down of course which it wont be at his age.

| Will his return to GB coincide with the retirement of Peacock or Morley? If so expect both clubs to be interested despite Ellis being a second rower.
It would be better for the game here if he went to Cas.

Morley has indeed publically stated his wish was to return to Leeds, or play out his final days at his home town club of Salford. You are correct with the fact that Warrington offered more money than Leeds, plus a 4 year contract. For a 29 year old, without the benefit of hindsight, that was outrageous, Leeds only offered either a 1 or 2 year deal. Hence, he made his choice for what at the time he must have thought was his final contract.

| I would love to see Gaz back at the club, as i would also have loved to have seen Moz also return to to us after his exploits in Oz
The club offering the longest deal and at the best price will obviously be winning his services if and when he returns, Didn't we offer Moz a 2 year deal on his return but were gazumped by Warringtons 4 year deal?

I wouldn't expect so for a couple of reasons. 1) Ellis was at the end of his existing Leeds contract and wasn't seeking an early release. And 2) Ellis had a more clued up agent/manager who I doubt would allow his client to compromise his future.

I wouldn't be so sure with this player given his past record. He joined Leeds for less money than Wakefield were offering for him to extend his stay at Belle Vue. He allegedly did the same again to test himself in the NRL at Wests. Who's to say he won't go for the hat-trick on his eventual return.
The attractions to Castleford should be huge and if/with a new stadium to fill they'll be in the market for a top signing and Ellis should fit that bill with a local boy returns twist.
Ellery Hanley to Leeds created quite a stir and he was (again allegedly) on a percentage of all additional rugby related revenue right down to a cut of the car parking fees.

| I'm sure Ellis will return one day to Cas afterall it was no seceret he wanted to play for them one day.
As for us we have 2 very good Backrowers who potentially could go onto being every bit as good as Ellis.

Agree, we have lots of good back row forwards at the club not a area where we are weak and need to add to

I bet Andy Lynch agrees with GH! 28 games and nothing to show for it!
