Quote FGB="FGB"Someone has guessed this maybe Jai Field. We were linked with him few weeks back.'"

Might not be a bad shout if he can play wing aswell, he’s got some speed about him, which we do lack in the backs

| If we were to sign Jai Field wouldn't be a bad option just as long he doesn't comand a big fee to pay for if he's still got a contract at Dragons and doesn't have cost loads on the salary cap. He can definitely cover full back which would be good to have him cover Walker and I'm sure he could cover wing as well with T.Briscoe coming back from a serious injury it wouldn't be a bad option at all the only down side it'll take our last quota spot but our squad looks pretty well covered in all options if Field signs
FB- Walker/Field/Handley
WG- Briscoe's/ Handley/ Field
C- Hurrell/ Newman/ A.Sutcliffe/ L.Sutcliffe( last resort)
HB- Gale/Lui/Mclelland/Myler
P- Seamanufagai/Prior/ Cuthbertson/ Oldezki/ Crosby/ Albert?/ Holroyd/ Dupree
HK- Leeming/ Dwyer/ Johnson
BR- Martin/ Ward/ Mellor/ Donaldson/ Smith/ L.Sutcliffe/ Waite-Pullan/ Mustapha

I think Jai has been released by The Dragons? So we shouldn’t have to pay a fee, I’m warming to the idea if I’m honest

| Jai Field could be a star in SL. I'm not sure he's played much on the wing though.
He's probably best at FB. Is Walker going to be fit for the start of the season?

| I'm not sure. If anything the problems with the squad over the last couple of seasons have highlighted how important it is to save quota spots for the very best available players that we're likely to be able to bring to SL.
If someone like Jai Field takes the last quota spot (presumably freed-up by Martin's passport changes?), it effectively rules us out from bringing in a player of Merrin's stature from the NRL to fill the second marquee slot - unless we go for an Englishman or non-Federation player.
I know nothing about Field, but without disrespecting him he doesn't sound worthy of marquee money.

Yes we need to get the marquee signing right. I'd love a GB marquee personally..more likely to see out their contract. Use last quota spot to add depth to the backs

Field would not be a ‘Marquee’ signing, I think people need to remember that there isn’t ‘marquee money,, its just an exemption from the cap, my only issue would be using a quota spot n a utility player, having said that someone like Field could work really well in SL

| Think we need to calm down about the marquee signings, it does create at buzz around the club if they bring in someone of the calibre of Merrin or Hurrell but look what's happened with Merrin comes over on marquee money and is gone after one season why rush if there's nobody to bring over whose worth marquee money the club won't be able to make a marquee signing, if we signed Field on a 1 or 2 year deal and doesn't count loads on the cap i think it would be good thinking by us we have have competition/ cover for our backline and then if someone comes available at end of up coming season who is worth marquee money and is willing to stand by the club and play for us then we should go all out for them, but like others have said I'd try and go for a top British talent and make them marquee players like Thompson, Clark, Bateman, T.Burgess etc they'd be more than likely stick to there contract and wouldn't take up a quota spot

| I seem to remember Field has a British/Irish passport? Does that make any difference?

I’m not 100% on the rules but that would make him a British citizen so I would have thought that makes him exempt from the quota?
