Another prop ideally, as I said earlier if ward can finally stay injury free he is a miles better player than Merrin.
Also great opportunity for Cameron Smith yo step up and show what he really can do, make of break season for him.

Gutted a bit, very annoyed the way it has happened, no integrity left there, just couldn’t wait to get home really, he could have been honourable to use the way we have backed him. It just shows how much of a pushover we are for not requesting a fee. But hey ho that’s it now. Gale should be Captain purely on his leadership skills. I know Frosties really wants Sutcliffe to be Captain because he is consistently in the team, but I just don’t think he is a leader. Also I hope we don’t rush into getting another one season wonder, I would rather hunt a bit.

He has to work hard pre season then because I would have him playing reserves, there are plenty ahead of him.

I agree I was initially annoyed how he had gone about it but I think long term good for the club he isn’t a marquee player, and was a waste of a spot.
He had a good year last year and was a good player for us but off field wasn’t a very good role model in terms of professionalism.

Is he moving for family reasons had several offers didn’t he in the window we gave him and decided to come back to Leeds?

Either way quite happy he has gone better to be rid than have someone not wanting to be here. Just hope we don’t rush out and panic buy someone would like us to take our time get the right person

We need to get back to what has been successful and that is home grown players who care about the club, we spent big with Merrin!

No love in from me, i agree average but now an opening is there and this us his chance to step up and prove us all wrong, or ship out at end if season,

He will need a fair few injuries as well.

We cant be scared to spend big just because we'v had our fingers burnt with Merrin, we spent big on overseas players to complement our golden generation, but even back then...some worked wonderfully, some didnt.

I dont want us to just throw money at anyone, but i dont want us to be gun shy to spend big either. If we'd backed away from big overseas signings after the Clyde and Mullins debacle, we might not of seen Lauititi, Webb or Bai.

We didn’t spend big on those three though did we. Just fantastic players on good money. Comparatively speaking Merrin and Hurrell could be on three times what they were on, because of this stupid marquee signing rule! Are they worth it when you compare to the three you’ve mentioned? The only player in SL who’s worthy of marquee money is SBW (imho). And that’s not just playing ability , it’s the brand, sponsorship, new fans he will bring......

So, if Prior is not linked to Merrin, the that means we still have a marquee O/s spot to use.
Personally, I’d like a heavy carrying prop, because with some serious go forward, it would allow us to utilise some more mobile back row, like Ward, Smith and academy graduates etc, rather than replace Merrin like for like with a heavier carrier.
Alternatively, should the O/S spot go to a Centre/Wing. I’d say not, but could see the benefit.
Go after someone like Boyd if available, make use of Mustapha and Walters was as back row depth, and look for an outside back if we can shed someone like Myler or Sutcliffe.
