Quote: rhinoms "In the past GH has seemd to "softened" the blow of losing a big game by announcing a new arrival or the retention of a quality player reading his recent YEP article where he states Webb is the only departure and thought the game was close doesn't fill me with confidence but i'm hoping it's merely a curve ball type interview to take the heat off the team.'"

Don't read too much into that YEP interview. He would look a bit of dick to public state that "perhaps" the team had run it's course and that nobody is safe only three months ago, to then stick with it. The reason he only mentioned Webb, is because publically Webb is the only player of the current squad that has been officially announced as leaving.

I doubt there will be too many changes, even though it is needed, as we were too late IMO. But I am 100% convinced that a big name back has been signed and not announced yet.

As I think it highly unlikely that Leeds will get past week 2 of the play offs, possibly not even week 1, it is really not that long before announcements on squad changes will be made.

Oh, I am not agreed on when it comes to changes. But there is a difference between what I think, and what in reality is realistically possible.

They have already signed one prop, which was a necessity. I would rip up Kylie and Griffins contracts, and sign another one, but doubt they would go down that route.

A quality centre is an absolute necessity, and get our best backrower back to where he should be. In an ideal world, we could do with a centre that is not ony quality, but actually a fair bit of experience. We have excellent young backs who could do with a wise head around them.

I think competition needs to be put on BJB, as I think he is too inconsistent to warrant holding down a place. That is not to say he will not rise to the challenge and still maintain his place, but he needs competition, and I would start promoting somebody from the youth for that.

Our backrow as I have constantly said, IMO is at best average. That is not good enough for a top club. You need better quality than that. IMO Clarkson is better than JJB and Delaney this season, but does not get a look in, so the face does not fit. Ablett back there and the addition of a quality backrow is an absolute necessity. I have heard it said about getting rid of Ali too early. That IMO is rubbish, as Ali at this age was not the answer, we needed better than that. The fact we have actually gone backwards is more down to our own selection than missing Ali. What a difference an Ali of 4 years ago and previous would make to this side right now.

IMO we have three youth backrowers now that I would be giving a run out to. Foster, Baldwinson, and Tonks are certain stars of the future if we get them involved early enough.

Quote: Gotcha "IMO Clarkson is better than JJB and Delaney this season, but does not get a look in, so the face does not fit. '"

Completely disagree with this point. For me, Delaney has been our most consistent performer all year round. Yes he doesnt do the flashy things, set up tries etc, but he is a complete workhorse. He does all the dirty work, makes massive yards - even after the collision (only Peacock out of the rest of our forwards does this), is always there for more hit ups and is a top defender. JJB has been a massive disappointment recently - at the moment, although he brings lots of endeavour, he gives away a ridiculous amount of penalties (including some really obvious and dumb ones) and seems to be dropping alot of ball.

Having said that about JJB, I really dont think Clarkson has kicked on - infact I'd say he's gone backwards since his introduction to the first team. When he first came through, he used to hit some really good lines, and make a few breaks, whilst being steady and reliable in defence. Now, he's just a tackler. Yes, he makes lots of tackles, but he has zero impact with ball in hand. He doesnt hit the holes anymore, looks ridiculously slow, and has no impact when hitting the defence.

Any changes to the backrow should be around keeping Delaney in there as the workhorse and Ablett as a line breaker/ space creator. What we are missing is either an X-factor type player, or a blockbuster running back rower. Unfortunately, Clarkson certainly aint one of these. I wouldnt write Clarkson off just yet though, as he's certainly got potential to fill the Delaney/JJB role from the bench - but at the moment he doesnt offer enough for me.

Huge.. we needed to bring Ellis back which would help for next season big time. Does anyone know why we missed out? Agreed re Griffin and Kylie's contract... don't agree Clarkson has been better this season than JJB but each to their own. A class centre is a massive must, Ablett has got to get back into that pack.. Warrington's pack destroyed ours.. (Peacock apart). Delaney is solid but that's about it..

Brent Kite has appartently been given permission by Manly to find a new club for next year - Now, I'm sure there will be a number of NRL clubs wanting him, but I'd like to see us having a dig for his signature.

If the rumours of Salford nearing bankruptcy are true, surely they would need to offload some players to compensate? Any players you think we should go for? Personally, if we are wanting a centre as stated by some on here, I think it'd be worth going after Joel Moon. Looks a decent player the times I've seen him play this year.

He's a good call. But personally for me, I still think we need an experienced head in that centre spot aswell as quality, just to compliment our exciting young players already there.

I expect Shaun Lunt to be returning to Huddersfield Giants for next season, as Scott Moore rumoured to Australia, and Luke Robinson rumoured to be joining Widnes Vikings.
