Crosby, he’d have a job on

I meant Dwyer. I was really impressed by that kid. Your standout performer imo...

| Dwyer is indeed Leeds' best player at the moment, but you can't structure a game plan around him solely.

| I know Furner will get more stick, and I understand that, particularly in terms of poor effort, but I think Marty summed it up - we're soft and dumb as a team. Softness I do hold the coach accountable for - there's no excuse for lack of effort/poor technique in defence. But dumbness can't be solved by shuffling dumb players around or going through drills in training.
If you compare our squad to Sts and Wire, ignoring younger players its hard to make a case that anyone other than Hurrell and Merrin would get into their 17. What's really worrying is how few you could argue would be certs in any of the mid table teams when everyone is fit. Dwyer would get a game because he at least has a dig, but who else, hand on heart would walk into any other SL 17 bar London based on current form? Maybe Peteru?
Hopefully Ava and Crosby come into contention soon and we can at least stabilise the pack, but as Gotcha alluded, we have poor players across the park. Fixing this is going to take at least another two years, as even if we make the right recruitment decisions moving forward as we are going to be stuck with a bunch of duffers for some time.
Whilst I think our recruitment is probably done for his year and has focused on the pack, the absolute number 1 priority for me has to be a halfback who can lead the team around. Without that we'll continue to lose games we should win far too often regardless of who else is in the side.

Most of this.
Two games, and yes I know Easter, where over the two we have missed over a hundred tackles. That is not even championship standard, that is inexcusable.
Needs to be clear as well, Myler has missed nineteen tackles over those two games. In any other given time that is and should be droppable. Utterly horrendous reading.
By contrast Peteru over the two games didn’t miss one tackle.
Wanting to know how to fix issues, there’s a glaring problem there.

| Why didn't we choose to kick the penalty at the end of the first half? Going in with a 2 point lead after trailing by 12 would have lifted the confidence surely. If Furner gave the instruction to roll on the pressure then he is clueless. A sorry situation when Trinity fans are feeling sorry for the once mighty Rhinos. A relegation battle awaits the club and many of the players haven't got the heart to fight for the club's SL future.

| Gitcha - I guess the problem is if you drop Myler because of defence, do we lose too much if his replacement isn't a proper halfback (or just as bad in defence if its Lolohea)? My own view is that Furner ought to be trying to have a proper look at McLelland this season. I hear the 'not ready' stuff but he'll be 20 later this year and we need to know if he is going to be part of the future or not.
50 tackles a game is horrendous. What gets me even more than the numbers is just the nature of some of the tries we've let in. Against Huddersfield out of the three tries, from memory two were awful - one a scoot from acting half met by a couple of defenders who fail to stop the ball (again!!), and the other down our right where it was clear our line was just in utter disarray. I've no doubt the stats will pick up 1 'missed tackle' for the scoot, but its insufficient to register how awful that defence is. The second probably doesn't even get picked up by any stat.

I'm pretty sure that James Maloney has stated that he wants to finish his career in Super League. Wishful thinking of course but he is just the kind of tough organising half-back that would make a big difference to us.

| Could not get to the game, watched the highlights, jeez there first try was poor ball goes to ground and everyone gives up, second one well intercepts sometimes just happen. The BJB one Tui again shocking attempt at tackle from a professional RL player. at least 2 trys should have been avoided and we win that.

Yep you are right two Leeds tries with clear forward passes given!
I thought at half time Leeds would win it given the first half pressure, that said looking back Leeds were very poor overall against a weak Wakey team full of team spirit.

And that's the issue. Wakey had more spirit. Which comes from the coach.

| Think Leeds may just have to take another dreadful season on the chin. Clearly the problems go back a few years with a lack of succession planning. 2017 papered over the cracks really but there were some dreadful performances out there yesterday. I was expecting to be soundly beaten but your senior players just aren't fit, stepping up or both.
From my view the game turned back in our favour during an arm wrestle in the middle at the start of the 2nd half when you didn't seem to have the heart for the fight.

Good balanced post. Most would agree. When the going gets tough we get gone.
This was a game there for us if we wanted it and that coupled with the Hudds win and or this week could have pushed us away from London and relegation.
Hats off to you though, you played smarter. I like smart teams.

| Watching the match back, Bish swatted Lolohea off with embarassing ease after catching him out of position - this earned Lolohea a right gobfull from one of your other backs who looked totally p'd off with him. There's just no way he should be playing fullback, even if he got himself fit.

He's been a poor signing so far that for certain, has time to improve.
