I thought he fell off a very easy tackle 5 yards out making it very difficult for Watkins. Pryce shouldn't have been near the line had McShane made that tackle. It's not the strongest part of his game. Agree to disagree I suppose.

This I agree with entirely.

That was a "genuine" missed tackle from a "proper hooker"in the centre of defence.

It was a poor miss from McShane having slipped down to the ankle to then also lose his grip on that, I guess the greasy conditions played a part - Burrow certainly struggled to keep his feet on several occasions.

Burrow reminds me of a mate of mine, when he got drunk he'd run round for some reason not knowing where he was heading.

McShane at 9 all day long for me - Burrow on the bench to run at tired Forwards has to be the right option off the bench.

His defence definitly needs working on but he controls the ruck, gets players going forwards and is a good poacher!

I think mac's d has been improving, yeh he missed a tackle, but his overall contribution was a positive one, he's only going to get better by playing

I am all for McShane to play a role. My preference would be from the bench with Burrow to half like we did so well last year. However, let's not pretend there isn't a systematic problem with McShane's game. It's been there from the outset and isn't improving. This is one occasion where I can understand the coaches perceived lack of confidence in the player.

Yet you still, quite rightly IMO, see a role for McShane within the current set-up despite this apparent systematic problem - no doubt we also agree that Watkins his worthy of continued inclusion despite a long standing systematic problem with his one on one defense.
