Do we know roughly when Briscoe is back?

Yep agreed. Stephens and Broadbent, maybe A and L Sutcliffes, Mellor can play centre I believe too - but we are shy on quality wingers.

| Think there was an article in the YEP a few weeks ago which said Tom Briscoe was due back in March or so. Would miss around 2 months, but then would need to get match fit.

| Quote christopher="christopher"You could tell in agars interview earlier this week that he was also very disappointed in how Trent has handled this situation, the more I think about it the more annoyed I get TBH.
I totally understood his reasons for wanting to get a deal back in Aus - so don't come back with all the talk of being committed, if he wanted to stay in Australia he should have stayed over there not mickey us about when we are preparing for the upcoming season, he wasn't just a squad member he was the Marquee signing, captain and ambassador for the club.'"
Agree completely Christopher. Very frustrating for all.

| merrin was giving an opportunity to get out of his contract and walk away, or commit and return, he choice to return and commit, now he has changed his mind again after a better offer. So us just another back stabbing Aussie. No respect for him at all if he goes back.
Plus side we now have a marquee and two overseas spots available. So two good props will be better than a back rower.
Plus if and its s big if we get Stevie Ward injury free for a full season at 13 we gave a better player

Bitterness doesn’t help in Sport. We wish him well and look at the squad opportunities this has created...

Merrin has just used Leeds as a stepping stone. No Aussie club wanted to offer him a big contact at the end of 2018 so he came over to Leeds on a huge contract for a year and now returns home. No loyalty just a greedy, money driven player who has taken the Rhinos for a ride.

Yeah and that interview is exactly why we should all lose respect for him should this all be confirmed as reported

| Merrin is a quality player, no doubt about it - however he is overweight for a professional athlete, he's too slow for second row, too small for prop and can't play 80 minutes.
For the amount of money he was on, a big part of that was his leadership and experience. Purely as a player, I think he was overpaid. Also his contract was way too long and his value-for-money could well have looked even worse three years down the line.
He is less effective when he's not in a pack of specialist players to cover the gaps he has.
He's a good enough bloke but I'm not unhappy he's going. There have been rumours of this not being right for him even from before he joined us.
Not really sure why some seem so upset by this? Our back row without him looks pretty solid anyway, and it won't be too long before we see the likes of Walters and hopefully Edwards breaking through too.
NRL clubs can afford to carry players like Merrin but SL clubs can't. This way is best for all parties IMO.
