Sidelined with a shoulder injury after 13 appearances in 2019 and only one year into a four year contract.Makes you wonder the reasons behind this.I like his age but from what ive been told doesn't play big minutes but does make big yardage.

Prior and Ava play big mins so that would be no worry for me

Yeah but big minutes for big guys means heavy fatigue, more mistakes and more injuries, we need quality in depth.

Aussie press reporting Merrin deal done back to Dragons on a 2 year deal.

Aussie media reporting Mez has agreed a 2 year deal with St George, after successfully getting a release from Leeds.

It would be very disappointing if we have released our best player for free with 3 years left on his contract.

Both are capable of it. But yes agree we definitely need quality in depth

So, if we were to get Boyd to replace Singleton/Peteru, and Prior to replace Merrin, with Cuthbertson, Prior and Albert/academy players to cover the back row squad gap? Use the two O/S spots on props.
Then if we can get a taker for Myler, go after a wing/centre/fullback option, have to be a homegrown player.
Or would you only get one of Boyd/Prior and go straight for that additional back option now with one of the O/S spots, and replace Merrin with a HG option.
I don’t know enough about Prior and Boyd, but from reading on here, sounds as though they are quite different. Boyd the heavy artillery, Prior the workhorse. Based on what we already have, I’d be favouring Boyd. I could be misinterpreting it though.

I'm very very disappointed in Trent. The ship had sailed for his return and he should be fully committed to Leeds now. This is a big set back. However if Agar is as good as his word we should have a quality replacement plus Prior. Woe betide if we dont..

I think that's right. Hopefully we've learned a lesson about Aussies who aren't really ready to commi to moving to England.

If Merrin does go now at least its sorted. He's a quality player but the sort that stands out more in the NRL than SL.

With Ava, Prior and Boyd, our front row would be looking like absolute beasts next year. Part of our problem for me the last few years is lack of go forward up front. I think the three of those, with Crosby, Mik and Holroyd in rotation would be up there with the best in the league.
