We gifted them a try that revitalised them with dumb play just before half time (though I was a bit surprised that the ref didn't bring it back for the knock on from the Cas player) and in the second half you would have struggled to say which side was down to 12. Years gone by we've not won at all after Wembley so I'll take this, but it must have given Wakey hope.

Positives though - our front row are starting to look borderline formidable, both hookers are getting us forward well (if a bit off the cuff) and I've not seen anyone make as many metres after contact as Hurrell, even Peacock.

I also suspect McShane might join the ever growing list of players who spend a couple of games suspended after playing us and us not even getting awarded a penalty for the offence. That crusher was pretty bad.

All in all, winning was more important than playing well, so job done.

Wasnt pretty but we ground it out. Ava and Prior very good. Martin played well.

A week after winning and celebrating the cup it was about the W.

Were ok. Were getting tougher mentally. Lots to work on tho.

Thought Cas defended terrifically well, huge credit to them - albeit we weren’t offering much shape.

Cup final hangover yes - but also don’t forget we have played above ourselves a bit in the cup run.

My expectations are already exceeded this season. Next year, I’ll be looking for us to move up a gear. Think we need some more conditioning into the younger players, one or two new players and some new ideas.

Aside from the fact that I didn't see single angle that showed the Cas lad was onside (and it seemed very plausible that he was not), if he was onside then yes, penalty try was the right call. Hurrell played the man and stopped him getting the ball. Odds are he would have scored.

That was awful , we got dragged in to a grind we werent expecting. I thought we made far too many poor decisions eith the ball ,were sloppy & lacked direction. All credit to Cas they dug in & played like they had 13.
We need to be more switched on for Wakey because with only pride to play for they'll be dangerous as well.

Awful yes but considering how many times Cas dropped the ball reckon that could have been a lot worse. They could easily have nicked that game and it's not long ago we would have let them. Ugly and below par yes, but great to see us grinding the points out by hook or by crook. That was a tough old encounter last night, are we assuming it'll be Baby Rhinos again on Thursday?
