Here we go, the press are excusing this and saying that they felt sorry for him. I have seen players racially abused in years gone by and had all sorts of heckling from the crowds. They did nothing like this ugly little runt did.
I think in the media's eyes he has for some reason become RL's new fashionable player in the media now Sean Long has hung his boots up. We don't need him as that. Lets at least have a decent ambassador for the game such as Sinfield or other straight talking, not glory seeking players from any club but not him.
I really like this because he is now showing his ultimate level of intelligence:-

Funny, my wife said to me a long time ago, - never trust someone who's eyes are quite close together, yep Sam you certainly fit that description.

Hypocracy applies to a denial of a balanced situation. Where one party is singular and in the public eye and the other is an unidentifiable group, how can there be balance?
I note that you don't feel offended by your own fans "irrational" dislike of McGuire or Bailey. The latter has dealt with more animosity from opposition fans over the years than Tomkins has had to deal with and, as far as I know, has never acted in such a childish manner.
What saddens me is that he should be such a positive for the game, he is a genuine talent. However, with behaviour like that the positives are negated.
Finally, these unfortunate incidents have occured probably since spectator sports were invented. What is really wrong is kn0b jockeys like you and the media justifying it, closely followed by a lack of action by the relevant governing bodies. |

Yep Wigan are back, as were Bradford, St.Helens and then Leeds. Do you not realise that in Rugby League as in most sports apart from football, success goes in cycles.
As for trolling gimps, we are debating quite an interesting aspect to the game. That is how a player who has been booed and what he may see as being treated unfairly by fans, retaliate in an obscene and degrading manner. For me, Tomkins has spoilt what for me was probably one of the best finals there has been in recent years.
Enjoy your win, celebrate and lets see if you can get three SL titles in a row. When your coach leaves I will be interested to see how you play next season. I think that possibly Tony Smith and the wire will decrown you. I'm having a punt on them next year. Do you want to crawl back under your bridge now ? |

What a load of tosh. Sam Tomkins, Ryan Bailey, Long, Moz, Newton, Nickle, Matautia, Skerrett, Howard, Edwards, Laughton, Sampson . . . you see where I'm going? Rugby league loves it's bad boys. Loves it's hate figures. These men have all made us curse at they have all made us smile too.
They generate debate, garner comment and get the game column inches for the things they do. Love them or loath them as individuals we need them.
Sam must know it's only a matter of time till the game fixes it's hatred and ire on the next lad.

Given this then ... Perhaps you might like to explain the flurry of abuse that Sam 'Can do no wrong' Tomkins subjected Rob Hicks (the touch judge) to after the last Leeds try ?
Had Hicks been booing him ?
Is Tompkins exempt from respecting match officials too ?
Hicks was doing his job and yet was subjected to an Alex Ferguson style 'hairdryer' from someone who thinks he is bigger than the game.
My regret is that Rob Hicks 'bottled it' and failed to bring the incident to Bent-Hams attention ... |

Oh I don't know. I forgot Goulding. It always seemed very intense at the time.
I don't think Sam has taken it anywhere. I just think your common or garden RL fan has just stopped being a fan of the game and is now a fan of the club. These fans hate people who beat them.
I would even suggest that many fans have never actually played. Something that you couldn't say ten years ago. So perhaps they don't realise how good the lad is. |
