| Quote Fallon="Fallon"Obviously sinny hasnt given much away but no secret a hooker and at least one prop is on the shopping list. Ideally a winger and back up centre too or at least a reserve back of decent quality.'"
Happy with centre cover myself with Sutcliffe, Ward, Mellor, Sutcliffe, Broadbent, Briscoe, Briscoe Newman, Handley all played there previously between the clubs academy, dual registration and loans.

I think the difference is between having cover and having decent cover.
If you assume when fit we will have Handley and T Briscoe as the wingers and hurrell and Newman as centres that leaves;
L Briscoe and broadbent as wing covers with broadbent having no SL pedigree.
At centre we have L Sutcliffe as the only player to have spent anytime there on SL. The others you mention as either second rowers or dual reg who haven't played at SL or wingers pushed out of position then meaning we need to cover their wing position, which we don't have the strength in depth to do.
For me we are exposed in these areas of say hurrell suffers a medium to long term injury.
I would much prefer to leave the second rows in their natural position and get a decent quality versatile cover.

| If Hurrell gets a long term injury we could look at signing a centre but I wouldn’t want to make a new signing just to have some more cover in case of injuries. Sutcliffe is our back up full back/centre/2nd row, tbh it justifies keeping him at the club.

I agree sutty offers great versatility and I am happy to keep him at the club but we all know the minute he has to play centre or FB he will get slated as not being good enough, which he isn't for anything beyond the odd game.

Sutcliffe should not play anywhere else except second row, for the sake of the player he needs to play one position from now on and bail it. Club we him as back row and he needs to stay there. We have plenty of half centre and fullback options so he does not need to be used as utility.
Wingers we have T Briscoe Handley L Briscoe, and people forget we brought in young Corey Hall who's seen as a great prospect.
Centres Hurrell Newman Broadbent and Alex Sutcliffe, Agar as hinted than Handley will also back up at fullback if required.
It seems the club want another prop and hooker, and are leaving options open for a mid season/last minute signing if real quality becomes available.

| I am quite happy with the way the squad is looking for next year, best squad for a couple of years, more balanced, better competition for places, and a host of youngsters chomping at the bit to step up. Should be a decent year next year, not sure we are good enough to win anything yet but should in in the mix again

| If we do get Prior and Leeming, im happy with the squad assembled.
Last thing i want us to do is sign someone for cover, A Suttcliffe and Broadbent are progressing well and dont need there path blocked by an average , never mind wasting cap on one. No point having great youth if you dont trust them. To me A Suttcliffe is what you'd want in a back up anyways, he's not as explosive as you'd like and wont create somthing out of nothing the way some can, but he's rock solid defensively, intelligent, dosnt make many errors and takes the oppurtunities he's presented with, still young and improving...thats more than enough for a backup in the salary cap era. Then along with Newman, Broadbents the future of our position, as natural a young as iv seen. More than happy with what we'v got in that position.

Suttcliffe gets slated when he plays second row also.For mine he should only make the 17 if we are decimated with injuries.

| Hearing Merrin won’t be at Leeds next season now. Flogging all his gear in his house, and telling people he’s going back to Oz next week. Let’s see in the next few days.
