| Left recently:
Eastwood
Buderus
Lauititi
Donald
Senior
Diskin
Webb
Smith
Signed:
Hardaker
Hauraki (potentially leaving)
Moore
Griffin
Lunt (potentially leaving)
Improved contracts:
Jones-Bishop
Watkins
Hall
Ablett
Ward
Hood
McShane
so that's 8 'marquee' players left, with only 3 players definitely still being here at years end. With BJB, Watkins & Ward almost certainly now taking up cap space, there's potentially 2 spots left. One goes to Achurch, and one to our hooker, which is either Lunt or McShane next year.

| Good to see some reality entering into things.
Ablett will start next season at left centre, so Leeds needed another forward. In comes Achurch to fill that gap.
Unless a quality player unexpectedly becomes available at a knock-down price, that'll be your lot.

All good and well but question is, how much cap space?? We simply don't know so for me we can't say one way or the other if there's room for another new signing...

| no, but they will be taking up space of 'number of players under the cap', i.e. over 20k we can have. From this year's squad we haveIf that did happen, then we would obviously need to use the available spot to bring in either a centre (freeing up Ablett into the second row) or another prop, to directly replace JP & Kylie.

You've forgotten Cross and Burgess. I doubt that 2012's signings Moore and Griffin are on significantly more than them.
You've also forgotten the transfers of Jay Pitts and Lee Smith.
In reality, since the beginning of the 2011 season, we've lost high-earners Senior, Buderus and Lauititi from the cap, as well as Pitts and Smith. Next year another top-earner in Brent Webb will be gone. We have so far only signed a young Australian squad-player in replacement.
There would have to have been some pretty eye-popping contract extensions for us not to be significantly under the cap.

Correct. There must surely be room, but like i say we just don't know the cap details but from looking at it as we are sense seems to point to the belief that there must be room..

| Maybe were doing what we normally do.
Keeping a spot free incase any marquee players suddenly become available mid season a la Ali?
Believe the sleeve.

Very possibly... we did that last year but no one was brought in.. I don't believe we've spent up to the full cap for a while now due to the new stand.

I'm pretty sure that rule isn't in place anymore. There is a limit on how much you can pay the players outside the top 25 in the squad but I'm 99% sure that the old 20/20 rule was scrapped a few years ago.

| Wasn't the 20/20 replaced by the 40/20 with head and feed going to the attacking side.

Don't be silly, you don't get head and feed in cricket.
Unless you're very lucky...

| Lee Smith would have been on a very good wedge. He'd left Leeds as one of our highest-profile players, and came back on a long-term deal very soon after. The fact that he's been disappointing and a bit-part player since his return won't have altered his contract.

Yes good point, as would Webb and Ali.. both must have been on very very good wages.
