Walters and Ormandroyd are the players I had in mind. Depending on form, he *might* offer more than the likes of Ferres and JJB, but that might be stretching the point. He probably offers more than some of the younger players as a safe professional, but I'd be wary of him blocking their development.

I don't think as fans we have enough information at our disposal about the club's salary cap space and other players that are realistically available at this stage of the pre-season to write off this signing as a bad one before Donaldson has played in a competitive match for Leeds.

I can see there is a reasonable chance of this move not working out, in which case Leeds aren't saddled with anyone beyond this season. There's also a chance that he'll thrive in the new setup at Leeds, so I'd rather not bin him just yet and give him a chance to show us what he can do in the Leeds jersey.

We've signed a hard working player with a great attitude. Both things were missing in spades last year.

Is he the best back rower in the comp? No. Is he a good squad player who will not let us down if/when he plays? Almost certainly.

That's how I see it too. I think there is other players to moan about more if you go down that route.

To be fair though, I am assuming the complaints are not about the player himself, but more about usuage of cap space and where it was needed.

Can't be paying him that much given he's admitted no other deals were on the table.

People just need to realise this isn't a computer game where you go out a pick up all the best players.

We aren't going to lose anything here on a 1 year contract and who knows, with JJB, Ferres and Walters off contract next year he may prove his worth and stay. Or if he is gash he will leave.

Get over decisions that have gone and look at what a great off season we have had recruitment wise. All you do is whinge about stuff nobody can change. It's boring.

Think we all understand in the salary cap era but for me personally I would just rather see the young lads given a go instead of some no use 9th choice back rower. We've some excellent kids let's use them rather than players like Donaldson.

Come on he's just not good enough for Leeds. I would much rather see lads like Trout, Martin, McConnell, Muizz etc given a go if we go so low on the depth chart.

Yes Donaldson is a worker, yes he will tackle but he will also offer nothing in attack.
