What a strange drift. On centres, in the NRL the best are generally very big guys. That's why Bennett took one look at the stick thin Percival and didn't pick him. SL outside backs are generally smaller than the NRL, and way less strong for their size. Look at Barba - he's not massive but he plays like Tarzan compared to some SL full backs.

Barba is a turnstyle.

What's an inch? a lot nearer 6' that 5' and if quality is anything to go by then perhaps more teams should be developing taller no9s

5' 7" is also closer to 6' than 5' so does that mean Paul McShane is on the big boys list too now?

There is no doubt that players in most positions are bigger now than they used to be, but it's not a necessity. A good little un will always beat an average big un as the saying goes...

Well 5ft 10" is just one inch is less than your 5ft 11" and that is exactly the height of Golding who you poo pooed as too small.

I seem to recall seeing a photo of a Leeds side from way back (1930s or something) which for some reason had the players' weights on it. The heaviest was something like 13 1/2 stone, and the halfback was about 7 stone. No matter how good that team was they'd get beaten by an under 17s team today.

I've got the 1938 Championship Final programme and it has players weights in that and most of the forwards was 12 or 13 stone.
