It all seems very mysterious, however you are blameless and its understandable why you have decided that you can't fully commit now, I'd do the same, congratulations on being big enough to step forward in the first place.

I think I did as much as I could . But to be honest I am expecting flak for pulling out . I don't like doing it , but I honestly don't even know if the walk is actually going to happen . Think I am better off cutting my losses and putting it down to experience . At least I now own some decent outdoor gear that I wouldn't have otherwise had .
From tomorrow evening I have 13 days off work and nothing planned . On the plus side I can attend a mate's 60th on Saturday , Gloria's funeral in Goole on Tuesday , and I will be at home for my son's birthday on Thursday . Apart from that I got nothing to do . Might get the mower out and go do all the neighbour's lawns . Anyone on here need their's doing ?

If your not cheating, your not trying. Barrie Mcdermott:icons3ae4_files/4541-162reymo-msnicons.jpg

Quote: BaldRick "One of ours is now none of ours .
I did what I was able . I had quite a few things sorted for arrival and travel through the Leeds postcodes . But I feel that due to the lack of response from others involved it is time for me to withdraw my participation in this event .I have been shot at , bitten , and even knocked over by a car on my travels while preparing . I don't know wether there is a problem oop north , and I do so hope there isn't , but it has been left too long with no contact . I have walked myself into the ground preparing for the challenge , and made numerous attempts at contact to no avail . It has been left too late in the day for me to gather in sponsorship apart from family and close friends (any monies already given to me will be returned) . I have spent a small fortune on equipment required to participate in such an event , and I will use said items (and my new ability to walk for miles and miles) in the near future for the benefit of any charity that is deemed worthy by your goodselves the posters on Southstander.com . No point in letting it all go to waste is there , so get thinking and suggest a good cause for me to walk for .
If the james2odsal walk does go ahead then I wish James and Andy all the best of luck on their adventure .

Now I am going to have a long sit down , crack open a beer , rest my weary feet , and get my mangled leg sorted out .

Rick'"

Not good news hope everyone is ok, fair play for even volunteering your services and putting in the training.

Charity I always do runs for and try and support is Martin house children's hospice. Have visited on several occasions and it's a very worthwhile cause. Another charity I like is Yorkshire kidney research (patron our very own sir kev) were a brilliant help and support when we needed them.

How far are you going to go, provided it fits in with work, have very little holiday left, would be happy to join in on the walk

No idea what or where I will be doing anything yet . Have volunteered for a 30 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal in September in aid of a friend of the SS band . I might do the full length there and back though to boost the walk . I have also promised Sharon from PudseyCCC/Yorkshire Kidney Research that I will do something for them if they let me know how I can help them out .

Been wondering how much interest there would be on here in a cake night in aid of YKRF .

If there is enough interest then I am sure Sharon and YKRF could be persuaded . Wonder if we could get Sir Kev to attend . It would certainly boost attendance . Would have to be ticket only , and limited numbers .

Does Sir Kev like cake ?

Just for research purposes of course .. Who would definitely attend if the tickets were limited to say thirty at £20 each ? That would be £600 to the Yorkshire Kidney Research and guests would get to eat lots of cakes .

2 questions

1) Would the cake therefore be free?

2) Would there be beer?

Beer ..Yes . possibly a selection of real ales . I can think of a very good venue .
Free cake . . Yes if you also bake and take a cake of your own .RL themed cake night , but no pies .

Remember this is only a suggestion of how to raise funds for the cause supported by Sir Kev . Not an actual organised event (unless there is enough interest )

As I have already posted on the Bulls forum ...
One thing I would like to make clear before anyone starts throwing stones (as no doubt there will be some ) is that the Bradford Bulls were in no way responsible for organising the walk . The foundation (a seperate entity to the actual Bulls ) were merely supporting and advising as and when they were called upon . They were arranging things such as James' favourite player to call him on Monday ( his birthday) , for a present when he arrived at Odsal , and player involvement on the walk itself etc . If any stones are to be thrown then let them be cast at me , I have got a week with nothing more to do than pick them up and throw them back .

Big thanks to Mick Gledhill for helping out today .

James is ok . After a good few hours trawling the internet and lots of calls I was able to track him down .

I spoke to one of his carers . All I can say at the mo is that he is ok .

Hopefully have more info later .

Had a call today from a lady involved with the housing project that James Olsen lives in . I explained the situation , and she said she is going to have a word with his mum and get things rolling regarding refunds .

More news as and when it arrives .
