| Gutted for Danny lets hope he heals faster than first thought so he can terrorise defence's next season.
On a plus side it proves that not all supporters far and wide are as shameful as that lot posting on here last night wishing awful injury on such a skilful and gifted young lad.

| Lots of hard work needed by him, Tommy Martyn got over two knee operations.
Hope he gets well.

Good call.
Super player Tommy. Real character and pleasure to watch, even as an oppo fan. The game lacks real characters now thanks to over analysis of behaviour.
Danny seems a great athlete, bags of ability and even on half empty better than most in the League. Good luck for his recovery.

| Good luck Danny hope he makes a full recovery.
These knee reconstructions (if thats is whats required) do seem to take a long time to fully recover from. Diskin was a couple of seasons before he rediscovered the form he showed previous to the injury and Ashley Gibson took a similar period to get back to full fitness.
IIRC Tommy Martyn was a clever player but never very quick. McGuire has a great burst of speed and we can only hope last night was not the last time we get to see it.

It seems you can't.

Though I will give you some credit if you have the sweetbreads to apologise for your crass, baseless comments,

| would it not be possible/more useful to look to the under 20's?
Ablett, Sinfield, Webb, Diskin, Buderus and Burrow should be able to control that middle of the park for periods of the game, Maybe getting Ward on the field for 20/30 minutes at the start of the season progressing to a few starts if it goes well?
We have 5 months to get him ready, he probably is too young for week in week out SL rugby, but im sure its not beyond the realms of possibility to try and get him playing for a month or two

| Agreed, i think thats what Bluey was aiming for this season with a few of the academy lads but injuries and constant reshuffling has led to very difficult situations to be throwing these lads into. Some have been able to step up, some have been found a little wanting and need a little more time to develop.

Smithy does seem to have that x-factor aura around him, an ability to come up with a play when none looks on or possible.

| I'm certain we've been cursed this season... any injury we've had has nearly always been a serious one.. I've never known owt like it. I'm so proud of the team for what they've gone through this season regardless of the result in a weeks and a bit's time. I know we were poor at Wembley but it can happen to anyone. Get back soon Danny and make up for this year's dissapointment. Best No 6 in SL. Come you Rhinos... Champions until the end !!!!

| I disagree with the idea of playing Webb at stand-off. This is a semi final we are talking about here - not the time to start experimenting with untried (or barely tried) half-back combos.
What is JJB's expected recovery? If he is back, I'd fully expect Sinfield to be at 6.

Don't be daft. Webb plays like a stand-off when he joins the attacking line already, and his passing skills are second to none in the Leeds team IMO (although sadly McGuire's passing was top notch against Wigan). I don't think it will be a big disruption to accommodate him there. The move also has the advantage in that we get to see Smith play in his arguably most effective position. Webb has also played there before for Leeds so it is hardly going to be experimenting with an untried option.
The alternative of playing Sinfield at stand-off means we will have to find room for an extra forward when we are already down to the bare bones, instead of utilising a proven match-winner in previous play-offs. I don't think Lee Smith has quite hit the form of previous seasons but I'd rather him play full-back than not play at all.
