Quote: Andy Gilder "I'd be surprised if he'd be on as much at Carnegie as he is at the Rhinos.

Not sure how much Carnegie spend on player wages, but I'd be surprised if there's anyone in their squad pulling in more than £100k a year.'"

Until now?

No idea what Sinfield's contract is worth either currently or in the future.

Given he's the sort of person who doesn't seem to put a high value on monetary reward, I'd be surprised if he's gone into negotiations demanding to be the highest paid player at the club though.

For some people money is not everything.
Sinfield is definitely one of those.
Not that he's exactly on his uppers.

Does anyone know what salary cap Championship clubs operate with? BTW in no way was I suggesting that Sir Kev was only in it for the money. But I am interested to know how rich RU in the second tier is compared to SL

"Not once has anyone whinged, moaned, blamed refs or looked for answers other than what's inside. That's why this is special." - Brian McDermott 08th Oct 2011:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7447.jpg

It's a very clever move. He has never denied he would like the opportunity to play union and realises this will possibly extend his playing career by a couple of seasons. Carnegie are seemingly having something of a re-birth so what better player to lead the charge. I have always thought he would make a great union fly half because of his natural strengths (kicking & organisation). What's more he can tackle! Plus, I'm sure with Sinny in the side even some of the die hard 'leaguers' like us would consider going to watch them.

One thing that has surprised me (although I suppose it shouldn't) is the amount of media attention this move has had, once again showing the union bias. He hasn't even gone yet! Imagine if he had signed for Fev!?

I want to say it's 2.5m, something only Bristol and Worcester come close to spending.

I don't think Carnegie spend half of that.

Certainly up to two or three years ago there wasn't a salary cap in the second tier. Don't know whether that has changed recently.

Those were my thoughts exactly.... The man is very astute and a cut above the average RL brain. I wish him every success in gratitude for what he has brought to the club and the game. A legend in the mould of John Holmes if not - dare i say it - greater. Impeccable standards that all future players would do well to replicate... His decision here has elevated him even higher in my esteem. It's hard to go out at the top: this way he can still hopefully do so with one last grandstand finish in October.

Quote: Gotcha "Just spotted this on the Sinfield announcement.

Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union club play in the second tier of English club rugby, the Greene King IPA Championship. They are currently sixth in the table, six points off a play off place with three games, and a maximum of fifteen points, to play for. Ownership of the former club Leeds Carnegie was transferred from Leeds CF&A Co Ltd, to a group of new owners on 23rd December 2014, called Yorkshire Tykes Ltd. That company now wholly owns Yorkshire Carnegie and has a ten year service agreement with Leeds CF&A Co Ltd for the use of Headingley Carnegie Stadium, the Leeds Rugby Academy at Kirkstall and certain management services such as retail, ticketing, marketing, medical and commercial revenue generation.

So I think I am correct about Leeds Rugby not owning, and pretty sure Caddick wasn't part of the Yorkshire Tykes Ltd, but Hetherington was.'"

Just checked Companies House regarding Yorkshire Tykes Ltd, these are the Shareholders

Interesting, that information appears to be contradictory to an article Dated 26th Dec 2014 in the Yorkshire Post;
www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-7021780

The new shareholders in Yorkshire Tykes Limited are:

Alastair Da Costa is the Chief Executive of Prince’s Trust International, the charity which focuses on youth employment and strategies for countries around the world. Before that, Alastair spent 20 years practicising as an international corporate lawyer, most recently with DLA Piper. Alastair lives in North Yorkshire and has been a supporter of the club for many years.

Jon Wright is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xercise4less, an award-winning national gym group headquartered in Leeds. Jon has nearly 20 years experience in the Health club industry and is a former Rugby Union player with Leeds and Harlequins, but his playing career was cut short by injury. Jon lives near Leeds and has been a sponsor of the club for several years.

David Dockray was formerly the European Managing Partner of PwC Consulting, and subsequently Global Board member for IBM Global Business Services, the world’s largest consulting and systems integration enterprise. David now runs his own consulting business and has been a member of the Headingley Taverners club for several years.

Mike Shotton is the former Chairman of textile group Quantum Clothing who recently led a group of local investors to buy out Huddersfield based Sellers Global Engineers Ltd which trades in 60 countries worldwide, where he is now Chairman. He lives in Harrogate and has been a member of Headingley Taverners for many years.

Dr. Keith Howard was one of the founders of Emerald Group Publishing and Chairman of the Trustees of Emerald Foundation. Keith has wide interests and is a benefactor to Opera and Leeds Grand Theatre, Yorkshire Cricket, and both codes of rugby at Headingley.

Tony Snowdon was until recently Marketing Director for Leeds based specialist engineers, FTL Technology for 30 years, which was sold to a large global USA based company. He now spends much of his time as a ‘Business Angel’ seeking out opportunities where his attributes can improve and enhance company performance. A graduate of Leeds Metroplolitan Unviversity, Tony is also a keen rugby enthusiast.

Howard Illingworth has been a director at Robinson Group and Northern Energy and associated businesses for over 20 years and a regular at Headingley during the past decade. He is a former Rugby Union player.

John Swarbrick is the Head of Portfolio at the Business Growth Fund (BGF) that was created two years ago with an initial £2.5bn fund. John began his career as a corporate finance advisor with PwC and is an Economics graduate from Leeds University. He has previously supported the Club from the terraces and resides in Harrogate.
