Rhinos Beat KR In Middle Eights RehearsalTwo of the teams that will end the season in the middle eights competition, kicked off the final round of the regular season as Hull KR welcomed the Leeds Rhinos. The prize on offer was four home games in the middle eights, and both sides were desperate to finish as high up the table as they could.
The Rhinos had four wins in their last five outings but KR had only managed one in their last five. The Rhinos were the bookies favourites, and after spending much of the season propping up the rest of the table, some end of season form could see them finish ninth.
The Rhinos were without McGuire, Delaney and Moon while KR were missing Thornley and Donaldson, amongst others. There was some suspicion that both sides were not risking borderline fit players ahead of the crucial middle eights.

Apparently Mullally was with the squad tonight, but Golding got picked ahead of him.
Another dazzling piece of insight by supercoach

Tbf Lilley hurt his shoulder last week. You could see in back play when Blair went in that he was clutching it again and finally went off holding the same shoulder....so if it was a contingency plan for Lilley not lasting then fair enough.

| If the third Rovers try was going to be looked at by the VR, why not go back and look at the whole play? Would have taken thirty seconds to spot the Sio knock on which rendered the rest irrelevant.

| We got there, but it wasn't great. Too much ill discipline in the first half especially. and some poor errors.
In terms of individual performances, I thought Watkins was MOM, he was our best forward, and our best back, if only he'd played anywhere close to that earlier in the season. I thought the pack worked hard, although I thought Ferres was gash. To be honest, I'd swap him for Williams in a heartbeat. The lad has done nothing since he got here apart from being a bit of a c*nt. He's a privileged Ryan Bailey ( ). Lilley was also terrible. He's a good lad, with a great attitude, but I just don't see a real skill set. Average kicking game, no real passing game, and he never looks like he has time on the ball. Everything he does looks rushed.

| Like banging your head against a wall that. After a couple of good performances, that was as bad as anything all year. Remember Hull KR were injury and more injuries in game. Can't see championship teams been a better chance than that.
We're sky taking the pish with man of match? He was awful, looked half dead for most of game. Hall and Watkins for me only ones to come out with a good rating. Keinhorst looked good first half, and all at sea second half. Garbutt some good runs. Agree on Ferres absolutely awful. A fullback who can run well, but as the poorest positioning I have seen from a fullback. Thought Segeyaro was too predictable tonight, but with sons good defensive moments.
Hicks was horrendous, both sides, but still horrendous.

| I'd have gone Watkins for MOM. Segeyaro went well, Burrow had some moments including obviously his try, Singleton did OK and Sutcliffe went ok at FB and Hall is catching high kicks in defence a lot more than before his injury.
Ablett looked a bit threatening early doors and after 15/20 mins I thought he would either score or create a try at some point but bombed a chance by passing to a HKR player (the kits were too similar for my liking btw) and then dropped off and gave away a few penalties and got involved in handbags. Like others I don't know why he got MOM.

No chance without a big clear out and really good recruitment. You desperately need a decent scrum half or you'll be bottom 4 again next season, You are clueless in the opposition 20 and your last tackle plays are non existent

Yet we did get over from close range vs Hull and Wigan and did put in some good kicks.....,tonight we just went completely backwards for no obvious reason.

I was gonna say Watkins or Sutcliffe for MotM, wasn't there live but his position looked okay for me, I can't think of many times where he was exposed?
Was backing Lilly before the game, thought he went okay in the first half but (like the rest of the team) fell away in the second, he definatley still needs a few more years to develop some consistency in performances that is required as an organising half
If he isn't injured I might start Burrow and Lilly in the next game, with Mcguire to come on for whoever isn't playing well
Cant understand how Ablett was MoM as I thought all our back rowers missed far too many tackles, though it is somewhat baffling to me why Mullaly wasn't named on the bench, he is another player (along with Baldwinson) who has talent but is being ignored and will look elsewhere for opportunities

| A scrum half who can pi a pass, and provide direction is the only signing we should be to make at this stage. I hope GH ha got the cheque book out for Soward.

I think most will agree Sutcliffe looked OK at FB......just most of us don't have a close personal relationship with his predecessor in that position that clouds their judgment.
