| Quote: DHM "In 2005 Senior was the best player in the competition - even better than the much wan*ed over MOS that year. If fat Joe Vagana hadn't sat on his leg that season would have been very different. In a very good Leeds side he was outstanding.'"
Agree to an extent re: Vagana incident, but Lyon was something special that year and had more strings to his bow than Senior. Saints would have dumped us out of the play-offs that year largely down to Lyon's influence if it wasn't for Terry Newton decimating their squad & Wellens being as slow as a donkey.

Yep newton certainly did a number on saints that game.
Senior has no doubt been one of the standout centres of SL
be interesting to see who he signs for if he carries on

Yes G1 is right. Derek Hallas was a class centre in our first Chamionship winning side in 1961 when he scored 2 tries that memorable day.
His winger "the flying dentist" Wilf Rosenburg scores a record 44 tries in a season many due to the fine old fashioned centre play of Derek who would straighten his running line to commit his opposite centre before passing to his winger with space. Brought up in Hunslet. Leeds signed him from Roundhay Rugby Union club (same as Atkinson) He played a couple of times for GB and finshed his career with Paramatta. He can still be seen in the North stand for most games.

For someone with only 'average passing ability', his wingers at Leeds have sure scored a sack full of tries. Hardly a liability to those lucky enough to play outside him.

I thought Jackson was a slightly disappointing signing. Tony Currie was a better centre IMO.
Back to Senior - a true Leeds great.
A fantastic servant and his obvious disappointment at leaving the club clearly show how much the Rhinos mean to him.
All the best to Keith and if he comes back to play against us at Headingley next season im sure he will get the warmest of welcomes from the fans.
He deserves it.

In what way was that otherwise excellent achievement a record?

In the 1960-61 season Rosenberg broke the club record for the number of tries scored in a single season which I think may well still stand. I would have thought you knew that? It sometimes is recorded as 48 tries but I remember it as 44, maybe there was a Lazenby cup or something like or just perhaps inflation!

1 - Lazenby Cups are friendly fixtures and (like all friendly fixtures) excluded from official records.
2 - I do know the Leeds club record for tries in a season by an individual, hence the reason for the question.
3 - The 44 figure is accurate but only represents the 5th best total by a Leeds player for the Leeds club.
63 - Eric Harris 1935/36
58 - Eric Harris 1930/31
55 - Eric Harris 1932/33
45 - Eric Harris 1934/35
44 - Wilf Rosenberg 1960/61

| Eric Harris - if there'd been more to his game than merely scoring tries he'd have made a cracking player.

I think the correct term is post war record which is still a held today.
