You have just insulted the intelligence of people who hold respectable roles in society. If people want to engage in a conversation with me then that’s their choice.
However they’ve done no harm to you so to call them dumb is bang of order.
Quote: G1 "There was an interesting discussion to be had on this thread but, this being Substandard, none of the regulars were interested.'"
You’ll be pleased to know that your clique can now ignore the likes of myself and others who engage with me by adding us as a foe. See my signature for details.

| I'll take umbrage at being called dumb! On the original topic, in all fairness Scott did choose a pathway into coaching where jobs are few and far between either at a club or in the community. I don't know to what level he is qualified to as a coach but you would think a club scholarship, the service area or schools would welcome him.
Rl clubs do seem to lead the way with securing players futures which is a credit to the individuals and the clubs. I went to college with JJB and he seemed to really have his head screwed on about those realities

Don’t worry about it mate, some posters on here have a supercilious attitude and believe that the rest of us are beneath them – I, on the other hand KNOW that I am superior to most .
I believe that clubs these days offer much more in the way of post RL careers, I know Sinny, Disko and Rob have all done degrees and (Rob especially) are already planning now for their careers after they stop playing.
Please correct me if I’m wrong here but as I understood it educational fees paid for by the club didn’t count towards the Salary Cap?

In terms of our players that did their degrees at the Met i thought it was part of the partnership with the club where they did alot of speaking and appearing at Met events etc and got their courses thrown in as it were.

You could well be right there mate.
I remember a Q & A session a few years back, one of Barrie Mac's testimonial events Danny Williams was asked “what would you be doing f you weren’t playing Rugby?”
His answer was something on the lines of “… don’t know really, I didn’t do well at school and all I was good at was Rugby…”
At the time I thought what the Hell is this guy going to do once he isn’t playing any more.
This is why I don’t have a problem with players moving clubs form more money or selling player memorabilia because if they’re not careful they are likely to be working as a car park attendant or in a warehouse somewhere with knackered knees, a bad back and a gloomy future.

Going back to the original article, there are a few points that are worth asking :
- It would be interesting to know what sort of salary Naylor was pulling in as a full time pro at the time, compared to say the average annual salary of the rest of us mere mortals doing regular jobs. Was it any more ? Was he being paid a premium over and above what the rest of us were pulling in and if so, why wasn't that being factored in to his expenditure ?
- Did he have an agent ? If so, what was his agent doing about not only his ten-per-cent-now, but also for the player's long term welfare (for example, perhaps having a proportion of the salary placed in some sort of trust fund or pension for the time they stop playing ?), which you would reasonably expect an agent to be undertaking for a player ?
- Should the finger also be pointed at his previous clubs, to ensure that something is in place for the player to go in to when their career stops (or even ends suddenly), such as qualifications and training. Would the player be in a better position if they spend 'some' of their time working on some additional skills / qualifications, rather than 'having a nap' on an afternoon ?

| Having monitored Damo's posts for a long while, I'm nearly convinced that the actual 'Damo' online persona is a total act. The guy behind 'Damo' is actually some slightly weird, but highly intelligent, attention-seeker and wind-up merchant who loves reeling people in with inflammatory and annoying comments. Its fairly obvious when you think about it.

| the original article may be particularly relevent to Leeds players, given that Leeds pay their players below the going rate and you can only sell your medals once
The smarter ones took advantage of the Leeds Met partnership to give themselves something to do when they retire or didnt commit to rugby until they had an alternative, maybe the big daft lads are right to leave chasing the money if they have no prospects when they are done?

Leeds have shown loyalty and offered a career beyond their playing days to the following ex-players; Francis Cummins, Darryl Powell, Willie Poaching & Barrie McDermott.

Well I say we have the technology so let's use it. But like the video ref it can be flawed. Especially if people keep quoting him!
