Agreed but he will bring some organisation and direction - no way they would not have gone for a drop goal had he been on the pitch.
Perhaps Falloon may have thought he was still in Australia with the golden point if the game ended in a draw so it was worth taking a punt on winning the game out right?

| Quote: Gotcha "We have a bigger, better squad than most to start with. Cas had more than us out, bloody Wakey had more out. Explain how they can win?'"
They won because their players are coming into form and they have a play maker. We lack both of these at the moment.
We have not been able to field a decent play maker since the second game of the season and our players are out of form with the odd exception. So our squad maybe bigger and better on paper but without the elusive form and someone with the skill to take the right options this ceases to be an advantage. None of our pivots at half back, hooker and fullback have been good enough or creative enough and have had their weaknesses exposed. Also opposition have learnt how to reduce the offloads of Cuthbertson which has reduced his effectiveness as a creative player.
I do not know if the decision not to sign a quality halfback to replace Sinfield was the fault of McDermott or Hetherington or both. But I regard this as a serious mistake. However it is too easy just to blame the coach when players are out of form. Hall, Hardaker, Watkins and Sutcliffe have been something of an embarrassment this season at a time when the coach could have expected them to step up to the plate and the loss of McGuire was crucial. We badly missed Ward and JJB and the new injuries and suspensions to Ablett, Briscoe, Golding, Moon, Garbutt have all played a negative part.
Mac has been lambasted by some for not picking Garbutt and Singleton but they have been way below their form of last season while Keinhorst, Mullally and Walters have been more reliable and have shown a better attitude in difficult circumstances. Critics claim Mac only picks senior players but on this occasion he has picked on form. What you also cannot blame the coach for is the poor record of missed tackles particularly from senior players.
If we had a player capable of creating scoring opportunities from all the possession we have had in the opponents red zone so far this season we would have gained the all important momentum and confidence that winning produces. Once this starts to happen you will see form return and performances dramatically improve.

It only took one injury to make us look so weak in the role. As it has proved. I know it's easier said than done just to sign a HB but it is something that I've been concerned about since Sinfields announcement. One people agreed with until Aiton said he was leaving, then suddenly it wasn't as important and Sutcliffe would be the saviour. Oh and to add to that we don't have a decent goal kicker.
This is not likely obviously. But I'd love us to sign Gale. Came through the academy, young enough to have a decent length career at Leeds and looks ready to step up and control a bigger team.'"
Yes you were one of the few to see the danger.

| A team going through a very bad spell.
I thought with Singleton back in the team would be a big plus, but was ridicoulsy ineffective. In the pack it seems that Cuthbo is our only real means of making any yards forward. Which then handicaps his game because he's in 'drive mode' his offloads are being put on the back burner. He's doing it tough and deserves a lot of credit in a team which doesn't.
But for me it the halves which are letting us down badly. So much position on the try line and we never look like scoring. Zak is not Brent Webb, wish he'd stop chiming into the attacking line as he never finds a pass, just gets caught in possession. The same goes for Sutcliffe. The majority of the time he'll just take it in the fringes, hoping to find half a yard to tear into. So effectively our pivots in the dangerzone don't pass. Which if I can see, Super League coaches can too, so very easy to defend against if you keep a straight line of defence and work as one. You can argue we could have more players in movement to aid the halves but no-one is bossing the game. There is a lack of leadership which is evident on almost every last tackle kick, dis organisation everywhere. No-one standing out or dropping back to say 'I've got this'.

| You can add this to the long list of excuses - on firmer ground both JJB and Hardaker would have scored yesterday.

This is the first season in years where I have found it hard to watch, most games on offer have been almost as poor as the current Leeds performances. I gave up on it yesterday, let the missus put her soaps on.

same here.
SL is pants right now.If you think about it, if we had not thrown away games against Wire, Cas and Wakey which we could easily have won going into the last 5 minutes we would have 10 points now and right amongst it playing as pitifully poor as we are. Its shocking stuff no doubt about it.

I couldn't agree more, in fact if we had a consistent kicker we would have won a lot more than we have and again be in the mix for the top 4. Crazy!
