Obviously how the rule stands some of the above are exempt but i doubt we could sign Monaghan.'"
Hauraki not confirmed yet. But if we miss out on a player like Monaghan because we signed Hauraki, it only highlights further how ridiculous that signing was.

IF the Hauraki deal is confirmed and was done at least 3 weeks ago (i was told) then how does that qualify to us missing out on "Dog Bollox"?
Lassie has only just become available so you can hardly say that we "missed out" because we'd already signed someone else.

We would have missed out because there was simply no need to sign him in the first place, it's as simple as that.
If we signed him 3 weeks ago, then what is the point in the cloak and daggers secrecy? Why is it not announced? Not that I am disputing he is signed, but just smacks of been farcical.
Like I said yesterday, if you are going to sign overseas players then sign one that puts bums on seats, and actually strengthens the team. Not one just for improving numbers.

In your opinion and that's fair enough but did Poching ,Glanville and Furner put bums on seats?
Why does it smack of farcical if it wasn't announced 3wks ago?
Who's to say he won't improve or strengthen the team he has'nt even played a game yet.
It may work out he may not i personally think he'll have the same kind of impact Poching had and IF we have missed out on Lassie it'll be because we either don't have a crystal ball ,He wasn't wanted or he just prefers to go elswhere not because we signed someone 3 wks ago who you don't rate.

| I dont think the quota would be an issue in signing Monaghan since as I understand it, the quota for 2011 is 5 and Leeds currently have 3 (Delaney, Buderus and Cross) if we sign Hauraki that would be 4 so would still have space for Monaghan. The salary cap is a different issue though.

I think you are confusing my posting. I made my opinion clear yesterday.
I am not saying I don't rate him at all. I am saying it is a signing we did not need, he could turn out very good and good luck to him. What I am dissagreeing with you on here, is that as it is a signing we did not need then the space would have been available for a real quality player like Monaghan.
I accept your Poching example, but to class Hauraki in the same breath as Furner and Glanville is just scraping the barrell. To add to the fact that the quota rules are different to when Glanville and Furner played for us.
When someone comes available who is not only better than your current players in that position but better than anyone else in the competition there, then you can only question the management of the club if we don't have the resources (quota, cap space) to at least compete for him. Of course that does not mean to say you would still get him with competition, and fully understandable.

| But what if you signed Monaghan, and then three weeks later Benji Marshall got caught fingering a budgie?

Good point, but not a similar scenario.

| Quote: Gotcha "What, Leeds don't have one as good? or rest of Super League not a centre as good?
Personlly I don't think there is a centre as good as him in super league. Therefore IMO ANY club who has the space in the cap and quota space available, and has a will to be the best, should be fighting each other out to get this guy.'"
sorry pal, i agree there is probably not a better centre in sl. this is not the kind of signing gh would make imo. i can only guess but taking into account other teams squads i would think with leeds shedding donald, eastwood, and diskin(at least 300k of cap space) and ambler out on loan(with only cross coming in) leeds would have more cap space than wigan, wire and saints. so if we wanted him we must be the front runner and the biggest/best club with the cash to do it?
he will probably end up at bradford or in france.

Depends what he's looking for in a future employer - wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Quins simply based on location.
