Maybe he just didn't settle in Leeds, didn't have a clear idea what he wanted to do next, and then a good opportunity presented itself? Maybe France suits him better than Leeds? Maybe men having their hair a couple of inches longer than average doesn't carry the same stigma as it does in the north of England
