Agar comes across as intelligent and knowledgeable too. Personally, if we are to make a switch it ought to be focused more on coaching pedigree.

| Please not another recent ex-Leeds player. Time to sever that link. If one of them shows real coaching chops consistently elsewhere then maybe, but part of the problem with Furner was his association with Leeds meaning turning a blind eye to his record as a head coach, which was really poor. I was guilty of that, when there was a lot of evidence he was a disaster at the Raiders. We need a real shake-up, not someone trying to bring back the recent past.
The difference between us and Saints in their short doldrums was recognising Cunningham had been a terrible mistake and then focusing on the head coach first. There's always a bit of luck involved with overseas coaches, but if we stop looking for mates of GH or ex-players there's far more chance of picking a good one. Wigan seem to have realised the same with Lam and the change in their attitude is obvious, without much turnover of players.

Agar has no qualifications at all to do Hetherington's role.
If you mean the DOR role Sinfield was recruited to do, specifically because Hetherington, after years of doing it ,with vast success, alongside running the business didn't want to carry on with both aspects then yes - and that's been repeatedly stated is the plan.
What Sinfield wasn't recruited for was a coaching role. I'm happy he's having apparent success in such a position elsewhere but that doesn't have much bearing on what he did at Leeds when he was doing an important admin role.

| Once Agar started publicly saying that players were playing themselves out of the team, and then even worse not following it up with any action, he'd lost the team. Not to mention saying at half time at Wigan he sensed a poor performance, and now just 5 weeks in to the season he's talking about flogging a dead horse. I mean I'm all for honestly but the longer he remains in charge the harder all this will be to undo. And for the last f kin time stop going on about Leeds DNA and do your own work, you sound desperate.

| First rule of management - don't air your dirty linen outside of your group - deal with it internally. As the boss you are paid to make the decisions and suffer the consequences when it all goes wrong. This is what leaders do - is Agar a leader?

When I read that bit I was saying yes, yes, yes. Then I read the next paragraph and got depressed again

| I think it was a frustrated man asking if the team still wanted to play for him. I’d think there will be a strong reaction v Salford, however I wonder how long that will carry on once you asked that question in public.
After Salford we’ve got c cup game, that game appears huge now. If we get knocked out then beaten up as I’d expect at home to Saints on 1 April then in effect the season’s done.

| It's still fairly early in the season. If Agar is still up for this, a minimum expectation is a major reaction, performance and result against Salford, and a steady string of winning results to follow in the coming weeks. It's probably too much to expect to turn Saints over, [ibut this is just the sort of game that the playing and coaching staff ought to be relishing[/i - while it's unrealistic to expect from a fan's perspective the bottom line is that the club should be targeting this if they believe the pre-season hype about Leeds being genuine contenders this season.
Fair enough, if the run of poor form and defeat continues, Agar out. I wonder whether there genuinely is a plan to move him upstairs at the end of the season? If so, they should have already identified a list of possible candidates, which may well be getting a dust-off soon.

| just caught up with this - agar doesn't inspire me nether mind the players but who left him with nowt to work with gh or kev - 98 and 2003 some key changes in personnel and in following 10 yrs quite a few good signings but a bit more ruthlessness up to 15 might have not left us as we are now
but even in transition retention has been ridiculous - tb , sutty , thompson ,donno , mellor . the season 3 in the stands , jjb - wigan don't do it and sts have a conveyor belt
kev had chance to clear house gave extensions to his mates

| Sinfield was very inexperienced when he stepped up. Not surprising that he fell back on people he knew. I do agree we need to be a bit more ruthless going forward and I really don't want to hear about another former player getting a role unless they've shown they can do the job elsewhere first.

I think this Salford game is massive for him, we’ll see wherher the players want him there or not.
Ironically wasn’t it after a game away at Salford Furner got the sack?
