| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Ive been a big fan of Jack Broadbent for a few years in the academy but his performances in the academy in the last 2 weeks dont warrant inclusion in the 1st team squad and yes i understand he got 3 against Bradford but the standard of opposition was very poor and he didnt do enough for me in either game. I really wanted to see him and Corey step up and prove a point and i dont think Jack has. His defensive reads havent been good enough and hes looked down.
Theres a 1st team jersey there, hes capable of beating Briscoe out for it but hes got to fight to win it.'"
Sounds to me as though he is at an important moment in his career and hopefully has the right guidance and support around him. Kids mature at different ages and are all different however he has contempories in the game a similar age who are all kicking on.Newman is only 3 months older. Lewis Dodd and Jack Welsby at Saints are younger but look established mature players. Wrench at Warrington and Pearce Paul at Wigan other examples in Suçerleague. Leeds have Simpson and Edwards potentially fighting for the same position in the next couple of years. The ability is undoubtedly there but as you say the shirt needs to be earned. In the NRL particularly in the backs most top players are starting every week at 21

Sounding like an attitudinal issue, and sadly for us a new club would probably be the best solution then…
But must be soul destroying tone 21 and raring to go, only to see your path blocked by someone who is not a centre….

I’m sure he is too, but is too talented to be using reserve every week. Especially when we have very little quality apart from Newman who is now injured

Agree with the above Briscoe has had a go and is clearly not a centre so should be regarded as back up winger who can cover in emergencies in the centre so give Broadbent a go he deserves the chance based on last years efforts. If he doesnt take it then fair enough.

Just no logic why they won’t do this. He could be chore for next 10 years if he’s good enough and performs. We need to find out now…..

| While I understand Broadbent needs to show as much as possible in reserves, isn't there some onus on Briscoe to do something in the first team as well? We're not talking about dropping Newman for Broadbent. We're talking about someone in his last season who absent injuries would only play the odd game. There's no long term benefit to picking Briscoe first, and not much short-term benefit either as far as I can tell.

| I love prematch interviews. The varied combinations of the words 'obviously', 'massive' and 'definitely' always keep me guessing.

He should be playing on dual registration in the Championship if not selected for the 1st team

I'm impressed you keep watching them. I find them monotonous and predictable these days...

| Where is the best place to park tonight for quick entry, exit back to the motorway? Been a while since I came to Headingley!

Hmmm, all gets pretty congested to be honest. Side streets further away from the ground great and as brisk 15 min walk in best I found. I parked north side of Headingly as loads of side streets. Easy access out to ring road too
