Look at our facilities and look at Cas and Wakey. If your an overseas player which one are you joining? The answer is the one that pays more. Atmosphere wont come into it. Get a great team and South Stand will rock again im sure.

Sadly the new south stand doesnt have the same atmosphere as the old one, I remember it absolutely bouncing at one point! Still think the stadium looks way better with the new stands and cant wait to see it packed out once again

Have to agree about the atmosphere, as a Cas fan Rhino's away was always (and still is) a highlight. There always seemed to be a constant noise during play but I've noticed that since the improvements the only real cheering seems to happen when you score. Maybe the noise is still there but just doesn't get amplified in the same way.

Probably doesn’t help that we haven’t been that great since the new stadium opened icon_wink.gif

Haha I know!

I thought we had a chance at giving it a rattle this year but mid-table is fine.

I am serious about next year though....

if the rugby gods align we still have chance of great team , walker never injured again and passing like myler , newman , 2 beasts able to run 80 yards wing/centre poss , quality br poss, though 4 qualitty hb's and 2 hookers like the 00's may never be seen again ,

sadly the possibility of the south stand being the same again is like a tsunami to a babbling brook--- at its peak there were 3 core singing areas that could join as one and seem to have the whole middle section singing, it's now dispersed to a few rows bottom half with southstanders leaving to east and west and old north standers and press amongst the top half

The South Stand was always a cess pit as i remember it. You crave those days if you wish but i prefer the stadium as it is now i have to say.

whether i crave it or not i was illustrating how there's no possibility of it rocking however good the team becomes

The Southstand was the best part of Headingley and the fans in there helped Leeds to many a win over the years.
Away teams always commented about the intimidation but loved playing there especially when it was full.
For me we have lost the atmosphere that used to be one of the main pluses that drove the players on.

Headingley has become the glorified stadium that RL has been asking for for years. The atmosphere isn’t there as it used to be when it was old fashioned, which is a fact from us all. The other thing is it will constantly bring money into the club with the games being played there.

Last season we had a majority of super league games played behind closed at headingley, then this year we have the same, with us having the Quarter Finals of the Challenge cup. No announcement of where the semi finals will be yet but would not be surprised if they was at headingley again, which is more money in the clubs pockets. They’ve also got the women’s super league grand final at headingley.

I personally wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being the England RL base in the future too.

Granted the atmosphere isn't as good as it used to be but it was pretty decent at times since it opened. The dwyer drop goal it seemed to be bouncing.

Think the wakey match will be close. We have the forwards. They have the backs. Hoping for a Leeds win but have a feeling Wakefield by 2 scores

Injury report basically confirms that Gale and Eastmond will be back for the one which is huge for us, makes a huge difference to the squad. Also says no news on the injury for Alex Sutcliffe so I’m not expecting him back this week.

Broadbent
Briscoe Sutcliffe Hurrell Handley
Eastmond Gale
Oledzki Leeming Prior
Martin Mellor
Donaldson

Dwyer Vuniyayawa Thompson Walters / O’Connor / Gannon

The club chose money over atmosphere.

We just have to accept that the atmosphere has gone forever and move on.

The Wakey game is being streamed on YouTube by the way. Fantastic news!

Just another reason to knock the club.

Get the best stadium in British RL and our fans still criticise the club. What a fanbase.
