Add myler, singo oledski and ward, and i think thats our best side (excluding players out for season) said for a ling time we cant have JJb ablett Delaney all in same side at same side.

| Yeah, Cuthbertsons deffinatly best used at 13 for me. If we ever get everyone fit, id like to see a pack/bench of
Prop - Garbutt
Hooker - Parcell
Prop - Singleton
S Row - Ward
S Row - Suttcliffe
Loose - Cuthbertson
Sub - Dwyer
Sub - Peteru
Sub - Oledzki/Mullally
Sub - Smith
Think that would offer us a bit of everything a pack needs. Size, power, skill and athleticism. Pretty good age and a good base to go into nxt season with, hopefully with a Second Rower and Prop signed to add to them.

Maybe he was told to pass to Moon and others rather than go himself? Still not sure what his best position is but I'd rather have him in the back-row than Walters at the moment, who was flapping in the first half.
I also thought Mullally went well, winning a penalty at the PTB and going close to getting a try at close range. I'm happy for him to be a regular part of our rotation.'"
The thing is, it's not an isolated occurrence. Whenever he plays at 6 he just doesn't get involved enough. He has the ability, but I'm not sure he was has the belief or the desire to progress as a player.

| Great game last night, a pleasure to watch, sometimes as fans we over analyse, and it distorts what we have seen, fabulous entertainment, well done Leeds & Saints.

| I'm not sure if I got caught up in the emotions last night but seemed to be a very quick game with very few penalties awarded to either side.
Obviously not happy at the loss but an immensely enjoyable game and if we continue to play like that we will win more than we lose. Credit to St. Helens they defended well and took their chances when they created them, the only difference was a decent goal kicker
Well done Leeds, keep it up

Saints only really found that gear in the semi last year vs Cas, but teams weren’t really gunning for us in the same way.
Leeds (and Hull) played with a clear backs to the wall game plan with extra nothing to lose mentality (or everything to lose in Hulls case) and looked good for the freedom it brought. Throw in a lot more of the injured players and you start to lose some of that. Not saying more players back wouldn’t be better but I don’t think it’s as cut and dry (see Cas vs Warrington).
One thing we are missing is Walmsley as we just couldn’t match Leeds’ size last night.'"
Hull played with plenty of intensity and dominated saints when it was 13 v 13. I'm confident that with a near full fit squad were more than a match for saints but doubt we'll get anywhere near a fully fit squad this season.
Saints rely on a high intensity game and Hull have the players to nullify it. I hope you win the cup as I don't think you can back up and do the double

I agree there is an element of 'well we've nowt to lose' when the team is as depleted as it was last night - BUT - as others have said, it depends on who's missing. Think you'd struggle to argue that Myler &/or Watkins would have added to the stucture & style we adopted and would've, in my opinion, got us over the line at the end.
It was a good, and brave, performance by Leeds - & prettt satisfying to watch, especially with my 6yr old who was already worrying pre-match we'd lose AGAIN!
As mentioned by the poster, & others, it seems that every year a number of SL teams regular season is heavily impacted by the injuries they've had to carry. It makes it all the more impressive & notable how we (& hate to admit it - Wigan) have turned seasons around after a glut of bad results on the back of lads missing.
On the team and shape last night; I'm another that reckons Sooty wud be better used in 2nd row - he's never really seemed to regain that dictating confidence of play he displayed a few yrs ago v Sts away - and doesn't offer enough management & influence in the halves... BUT I guess there was an element of needs must as Lilley, who I've had high hopes for on the back of looking like he can read & control a game like a great hb should, just doesn't seem to be developing as i hoped he would & isn't fast enough for SL.
Cuthbo, Parcell & Garbutt were immense. Walker showed he's class, Hally had a great defensive display (especially under the high ball), Briscoe showed up well... and Ferres, who I wouldn't normally pay in washers & who I didn't like GH signing, had one of his best displays in blue&amber!
On to Catalan & who knows... We've pulled it out of the bag before?!?
A CC final win & I'll be happy this year

| Credit to McDermott. Holroyd wasn't used but it's understandable given the way the game was. You always knew he was making up numbers. Like others have said, Walters was a passenger. He can get away with little cameos but showed he isn't good enough but we didn't really have anyone else.
So I credit McDermott for using a 2 man bench like he did. He kept rotating and the players looked relatively fresh at the end. Whilst the drilling it into touch tactic was a bit boring, it was effective and we've seen him use it before against Cas at Wembley.
Having so many players in there as a last resort meant it was never going to be a perfect performance. Newman was going to miss tackles and probably not offer a lot in attack, but what a fantastic experience for him which will no doubt aid his development.
I take my hat off the everyone involved. The commentary team mentioned that Saints have only used 22 players this season. It would be interesting to know how many we have.
For me now, a successful season will be staying in the top 8, at least getting to Wembley and seeing some of the young players being integrated into the first team. Once we're guaranteed top 8 the club should start to plan for the future.
After the abysmal game on Thursday, Friday's was a much needed spectacle.

| Walters did ok to say he is so far down the pecking order. Sutcliffe is best at centre for me, he certainly isn’t a half back and did double the number of tackles to Moon, so understandably did a lot less in attack.
Interesting looking at our tacklers, did Cam Smith really make 33 tackles or is that a stats typo? Brilliant effort from him.
Number of tackles
Cuthbertson 41
Cam Smith 33
Garbutt 33
Parcell 26
Ferres 26
Mullally 23
Dwyer 23
Sutcliffe 22
Walters 10
Ormonroyd 10

Leeds have used 29 (not including anyone who has only played CC as I’m using the SL site).
For comparison Wigan have used 27, Warrington have used 25, Hull 31 and Cas 30.

| Full credit to Cas and Hull there.
I was a bit unsure about Cam Smith as he was hyped up to be something special but he didn't really show much until this season and deserves his place in the 17 ahead of our ageing stars.
