| Quote: Middleton_Loiner "Ferres is most definitely a no brainer but he is a great Second Rower, and we should be looking to sign him at the Rhinos. Nothing else matters apart from Playing Ability. People moaning about him kn0bbing a lass in his own time should dismount that very high horse.'"
If playing ability is all that matters then we should get Hock in don't you think? Far more talented a player than Ferres, so what if he enjoys cocaine in his free time, doesn't matter does it, unless you're a hypocrite.
Everyone dismissing this act of betrayal don't seem to think that the team ethic matters at Leeds, I think it's the single most important thing. That's why I don't want Ferres, he didn't just 'knob a girl in his own time' did he? He did his team mates wife. It's so serious that Huddersfield want him out, and they want him out because untrustworthy team mates are a cancer in the dressing room. It's like having a thief in there.
You say I'm on a very high horse, I say what's made Leeds the best team in the competition is having the best team spirit and setting high standards of behaviour. I suspect Brian McDermott's and Gary Hetherington's horses are similarly high when it comes to despicable acts like this.
But then as it's only playing ability that matters, because nothing intangible can ever affect a team, get him and Hock in. We're bound to win the lot.

So do you think we should've kicked Hardaker out earlier in the year then? Because a lot of the team were angry that he'd put a potential spanner in their hopes for success in 2015 before the season had even really begun. Had he not been such a good and important player he'd have been gone.

| Hardaker also had runs on the board with the team. As did Bailey before him. Bailey in particular you always felt was put up with largely because of his long past with the senior players. Ferres has no such credit.
That's not to suggest he shouldn't be signed - just that I would take the views of the senior players into account before considering it, and if the likes of McGuire, Burrow and JJB have issues with him, Leeds shouldn't go near. For most signings I'd say it would be down to GH and BM only, but in the case of Ferres I think it would be wrong not to consult the players.

The issues with Hock stem from "on the pitch" and how he goes about some things, not off it. Hock has talent that has been diminished because of what he does "on the pitch". There is absolutely no similarity to what happens in the private life of a player.
You not only need to get off the high horse, but also get the head out of the sand. There have been numerous bust ups at Leeds over the last decade involving players, but they move on. The issue for Ferres is purely between him and Huby, and the respective partners, not for anyone else.

| The thing with Ferres would be that it if it was a loan, he could be sent back at the hint of any unrest.

I'd say the first bit is certainly contributory. They're also highly professional and were we to sign Ferres I suspect they'd put personal judgements aside for the good of the cause. As for GH and BMcD's views, I've no idea. I can only go on how I see it and as someone who's never felt the slightest inclination towards marriage or any long term relationship I can only say I view Ferres' actions with something approaching indifference. That's not to say I disrespect the views of others on what seems to be an emotive subject, rather that I struggle to understand them.

When you screw one of your team mates wives it's not your private life, not even slightly.

Two things, firstly I'm completely comfortable up on my high horse. I find what Ferres did to be the lowest and scumbaggiest thing one team mate can do to another and I'm comfortable in not wanting him to play for Leeds purely on that basis.
Secondly, you're supposed to be able to trust your team mates. You should be able to trust them to have your back on the field, to not steal your phone while you're in the shower and to not stick their penis in your wife. It's not purely between him and Huby, because he broke that code and put himself above the team. It says a lot about a man that he's willing to do that to someone he's supposed to be in the trenches with, it speaks of his character and his reliability, and not well.

Ferres might be more reliable and more consistent, but there is not a chance on this earth he's a more talented player than Hock. The fact that Hock has no brain and has thrown his talent down the toilet doesn't change the fact that he has incredible talent.
If Hock had anything resembling a brain he could have been one of the best second rowers the game has seen, Ferres is just good.

Didn't Falloon leave the NRL under some sort of cloud? Don't recall the same level of frothing over that one; most just seemed pleased we'd acquired a specialist hooker. But of their respective, alleged offences, I'd say the one Falloon was associated with has the greater potential to disrupt.

Now that's a point we can agree on.

| Wow! A lot of people really rating Hock highly. Not sure why, never fully fit a day in his life, error prone, lacked concentration and a liability discipline wise.
It's true, I liked some of the aggression he brought and he had decent hands, but really? Inconsistent, lazy, and incapable of drawing a line (unless it was with white powder in a pub toilet). But lots of excuses based on off field issues. As has previously been said, his issues for me were on the pitch.
Ferres by plenty.

| I'm not saying I'd rather have Hock, just that in terms of pure talent he's the superior player.

| Not condoning what Ferres did but we are talking about one issue here with him that would be massively unlikely to ever be repeated whereas Hock has a long list of 'incidents' and you always feel like his next cock up isn't too far away.
Again not condoning or trying to excuse what Ferres did but comparing him and Hock is quite flawed.
