| Quote: Juan Cornetto "Worth listening to Brian McDermott's comments regarding the JP incident. He makes a strong point regarding the distinction between "thugs" and "bravehearts"
rlhttps://www.therhinos.co.uk/matchdaytv/?play
He also makes another strong point that there are some in the media and elsewhere that are guilty of character assassination of Hardaker'"
He also in the recent sky programme about the RL disciplinary stated there was no place for punching in rugby league- which made me laugh at the time I watched it.
All coaches spout bullpoop -It's all media spin- they say what they think people want to hear at the time. The only time they say what they really think......they get fined!

If you listen to his comments today on the Leeds website you will see he clearly is saying what he thinks and spells out the difference between the "thug" and the "braveheart" This IMO is not media spin.

| Danny is quite right about Sarsfield's offence - it was deliberate, cowardly, cynical and designed to inflict physical harm - particularly since it was aimed at JP's head. It did not involve any game skills - and that is probably why JP lost it.
JP is after all a noble sportsman - something that the cowardly Sarsfield will never be.
Retaliation is such an ugly word, carrying with it connotations of the worst traits of mankind. But, without a certain measure of retaliation the rule of law would never have come into being and the bullies in life would have it all their way.
"Crime and punishment" is "sin and retaliation" in other words.
Perhaps a useful thought might be to substitute the words "counter-attack". This elevates the matter to a higher, nobler level and is after all the very basis of sport - attack and counter-attack (or attack and defence).
As time passes and we move into the George Orwell world of 1984, beaurocracy has become an immovable force.
"Politically Correct"? What on earth does that really mean?
It gives the power-hungry nobodies the power to tell ordinary people what they can or cannot do or say.
One thing is for sure - Sport and beaurocracy cannot co-exist.
Any more than natural and unnatural can.

| I wonder if the punches thrown in the Catalans vs saints game will lead to any appearances in front of the beak at Redhall?

| I have just seen that both Pelissier & Walmsley have been charged for the incident I referred to above.
At last some consistency & to answer my own question, "yes they will be charged".
Good.

That's what the sin bin was introduced for. To get two - or more - BDL's off the pitch after some fisticuffs to calm down before it got really nasty.

| So, explain why Matt Sarsfield received a 'sin binning sufficient' for the most hideous of cowardly crimes, and St Jamie threw about 15 punches, and would have been sent off if the REF had balls. Indeed the RFL recommended a 1 or 2 game ban, but then remembered he is a TV pundit, so just fined him.

| 15 punches? Really?
So the RL thought as he is on the Beeb they would let him off.
Really you think that's the reason?
How lucky is JP?

It appears thinking is well beyond this particular poster.

HE is quite lucky, in the Leigh v Halifax game, our Kurt Haggerty was SENT OFF when he threw a few punches in retaliation. I know you lot will be biased, but JP was lucky in just getting a sin bin & fine.
