Good call regarding JJB

Great that he has signed a new contract, but 3 years is daft, really is stupid and got to for once agree with Gotcha that its arrogant and naive from previous success.
JJB is a machine, a pure work horse that batters his body everytime he enters the pitch, nothing suggests that he can do that for another 3 years. 1 year would be sensible, 2 years would be "hmmm okay but that would be it", 3 years is stupid.

Every pre season we seem to await the new breed of forwards that will take the club forward and get some consistent rugby. Instead its contract extensions and a summer break to the over 30s club.

It defies logic that the club can get it so right with the outside backs, but not so with the pack ... Nostalgia and past achievements will not generate future success from a bunch of breaking down old crocks.

It could be worse, look at Wigan just written off that useless lump Lauaki but signed Jordan James for one season & it looks like the experiment with the Welsh RU international, Andy Powell, has been abandoned.

Could be worse than the champions? the champions that have also over last two years integrated many young forwards?

James might not be marque signing, but he gives good yardage and honest endeavour. He is an improvement on Lauaki for them. Remember they are also still linked with Patrick.

James for Lauaki is an improvement.

Nobody can predict what is going to happen this year, let alone next year or the year after. Injuries happen. When Wigan signed Nigel Wright to a long contract following a big transfer fee, who would have thought he would turn out to be a crock?

JJB was already contracted for this year. So he's got a two-year extension. Doesn't mean he's going to see it out. He's a smart enough lad that if his body tells him its time to go before the end of 2016 I have no doubt he'll do it. If he's not cutting the mustard, then Leeds can move him on.

Given his injury record, age and playing style i would have though the best way would have been to work on a season to season basis.

Whilst im glad he is staying on, I dont see why we had to give him such a long deal.he is 32 and with still a year to run on his current deal we could have waited until late summer and then offered him a rolling one year deal which is what I think should happen for all our players who hit that age range.not all players are capable of rocking on like JP has.

except if you're sal as he has predicted that both jjb and delaney would both be injured for some of the time in 2014

whilst on that topic, i predict that other super league players and at all sl clubs too,will get various injuries next season too

i also reckon that some of those players will be offered contract extensions too at their clubs
