| Lets get this right should HKR not make the top 8 by 2 points and Whingercock loses his job that comes down to 1 man and 1 man only its not just "human error get over it".
The future repurcussions could be huge especially in terms of future investment/sponsorship for Rovers because you have more to negotiate with getting into the top 8 than you do if you don't.
He's consistently made blunders and now we are supposed to trust the Cyclops to boss Officials who are already inconsistent on a weekly basis.
Not up to it and not worth a wage he should be sacked.

I couldn't agree more.
Incompetence of the highest order, simply unacceptable and surely his position as head of referees is untenable after such a glaring error.
Human error is not an acceptable explanation. The video ref is there to eliminate that, it was a simple decision, he had plenty of time to look it over, it beggers belief.

Every season there is at least one team who JUST miss out on the play offs, sometimes by just one point, and each and every one of those teams will be able to point to a poor refereeing incident at some point in their season and blame that for losing them the points in that game.
Its all irrelevant you're assuming that because Hull KR lost yesterday it will effect the final positions of ALL of the teams in September, it won't, they will all lose games this season and they will all have just as much effect on the league positions as yesterdays one loss did - yesterday doesn't count half as much as you think it does.

| Ganson has made a huge cock up, no doubt about it. But let's not re-write history: he was consistently one of the best refs, rarely made "blunders" on the pitch - his main problem was if one team ed him off as he could really go after them.
Getting this one wrong was pretty unforgivable - but a sacking offence? Not really.
I like the way the Hull KR press release confirms how much they like Ganson but has aims an upper cut at Jon Sharpe - that's definitely the way I would go too.

HKR lost 2 comp points through sheer incompetence which could still have huge ramifications on their overall season i've not even mentioned the other teams.
That decision clearly cost them that match whatever anyone could point to throughout the season has no bearing on that 1 call in that 1 game.
Yesterday counts becasue they are 2 points worse off in their Derby and the same man has previous so how long should it go on before the game says enough is enough its not a 50/50 or even carry any rellevant explanation.
I think its time the sport cracked down on p!$$$ poor performances from officials everyone elses actions within the sport on the field carry ramifications through various punishments etc so why should they and in particular him get away with it after just apologising and missing his next scheduled match?
They are now full time pro's and its time they were treated as such.

| As was shown by Silverwood today in the 31st minute (and affirmed by ex-referees boss Cummings) when a defender is returning the ball into the field of play and the ball touches the tryline while he is still in possession/contact, the correct ruling is ball grounded in goal - resulting in a goal-line drop out.
That wasn't the ruling the video referee at the Leeds - St Helens game came up with last week with the game coincidentally tied at 16 all - anyone remember who that ex-referee was?
Two in two weeks from the comfort of the TV gantry. Would any other sport ask its fans to put up with this level of apparent incompetence, from an official who doesn't appear to know all the rules?
The point was made by myself and Rogues Gallery last week that Ganson is on a hiding to nothing by exposing his inadequecies for the whole sport to see and would do himself a favour if he took himself out of the limelight and just concentrate on improving refereeing standards but alas that isn't Steve's way.
Another fantastic festival of rugby where the game is overshadowed by the incompetence of a certain Steve Ganson. Perhaps it's an illness?

Exactly. Ganson is simply an embarrassment to the good name of the sport. His questionable decisions on the field whilst as a referee .... his unsavoury antics off it,......and the cherry on the cake, was his performance as video ref at the weekend.
Way past time for the RFL to do a very deep and wide ranging Inquiry into Mr Steve Ganson.

The correct call should have been a penalty to HKR from where the ball was kicked - this would have given the Robbins a kickable penalty.
To say the outcome WOULD have been a draw is not entirely correct.

Problem is it was more than a 'poor' decision.....even without the benefit of slow motion video replays it was bluddy obvious how far the offender was offside.
[iWith[/i the benefit of video replays it is utterly incomprehensible that the try was given (exacerbated hugely by the result and possible future ramifications of the final score).
The match should be replayed.

Penalty would have we're Green caught the ball, so doubt he would have kicked a 90 yard penalty.
