If they want fans to go wave them off, the least they could do is sign a few autographs or have a few photos taken!!!

I agree.
If I had any intention of waving them off (which I haven't) this would put me off.
To paraphrase, "please come and wave the players off in good numbers but be warned the players will ignore you".
