| Quote: DHM "No Leeds specs here, Cas were unlucky, but both passes were clearly forward.'"
Agree to disagree... neither looked forward to me.
Quote: DHM "You go the feeling that if it had been the other way around and Leeds had been given two tries for the same thing Stevo would have been raving like a lunatic about officials not picking up forward passes.'"
One of the benefits of not wearing blue and amber specs is the ability and measured calm to not involve oneself in conspiracy theories about commentators or referees harbouring alleged anti-Leeds bias.

I thought both decisions were a little harsh on Cas and wonder how the game might have panned out had the tries been given but they weren't and one thing I will say is the referee was perfectly in line for both and despite the Sky muppets focus on the linesman both were given instantly by Silverwood. You could hear his whistle before the winger caught them.
However, like Swiftcorn has said, no excuses for that 2nd half from Cas. 12 nil is not a winning margin and the game was there for them but we were far superior.
Good displays all round. I too though JJB was MOM and McShane was excellent. Forwards looked good and it was nice to see the cameo from JP to McGuire. How sharp did McGuire look finishing that one and rounding his mate at the back?

JJB was brilliant. I thought he was awesome against Bradford, and he just seems to keep doing it. I also thought Kylie battered the Cas pack, they didn't have anyone as physical.

| JJB > Nathan Hindmarsh...
Jamie is doing what he has always done, working really hard for the team and playing above his weight. He must be the fittest member of the Leeds squad and has the heart of a lion.

| I thought JJB should have been nailed on MoM on Friday, although Ablett was also very good. Kirke was having one of his working weeks, and looked effective, which makes it all the more frustrating that he can't produce that application every week. When he throws himself into it he's a big guy and takes a toll on the opposing pack, attack and defence.
On the subject of the forward passes, I think the Cas ones and Leeds' second were a touch forward, but I reckon on the Cas tries for every one of those that gets pulled up in SL 10 are allowed to go on, so they were very unlucky in my book. Chase was a constant menace. He does the unexpected a lot of the time.
On Cross, he's beginning to get on my nerves. I recall Richie Blackmore getting sent off for basically the same thing at Cas a few (well, about 10 probably) years ago, and having no complaints. Not only does it give away a penalty when in possession, like somebody said earlier, the game's tough enough without that s**t, which is how jaws get broken. Should have walked, should now get a ban. Idiot.

He's just a big stupid oaf. I'm not sure I've seen anybody give away so many stupid needless penalties, especially so many when in possession

You really do need to check the RFL website before hitting submit.

Pretty much my view of it at the time - didn't think there was any intent to take out the defender with either forearm or elbow, just clumsy.

It was the histerics of the Sky comentary team that blew the incident up with talk of leading with the elbow. IMO he clearly led with the forearm and hit the chest first. Because it slid up and made contact with the head it was rightly penalised. Most props (and other forwards) use a similar style when in heavy traffic and most get penalised when the timing is off including all of ours at some time. etc. Fielden has done it for years. So why pick on Cross?

Because most forwards run with the forearm vertical or near vertical (protecting your face with the forearm) with the elbow pointing down. If you run with the foream horizontal as Cross did then the danger is that someone tackling you gets the elbow in the face, or your arm rises up and someone gets the elbow in the face.
It wasn't a bad one, penalty seemed enough - certainly not Scott Gibbs style, and not anywhere near as bad as this...

They're entitled to their opinion. My opinion after several TV replays was that he raised the arm into the face (forearm or elbow I care not - at that speed with that motion the actual contact point is as much luck as anything else) in a way which appeared (to me, only he knows) to be intentional, and followed through after the first contact.
The judiciary saw it differently, but reading their report does nothing to change my opinion. I've just watched it again and that didn't change my opinion either.

Without the benefit or hindrance of Sky's coverage and opinion, I've only seen the incident at the game itself followed by a brief replay on the big screen and I thought it looked bad both times. I don't think you should be defending the action just because it's a Leeds player and just because it's Cross.

At the game I thought it looked bad but not seen the replay from sky. I thought honestly that both cas trys were borderline, but to be fair I have seen worse forward passes allowed. The second looked slightly more forward to me but the first did seem harsh
