39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Quote: Andy R "Maybe.
Maybe I'm just selfish but I'd much rather watch the game, any game, at Headingley.
The World CLub Challenge is different, people view it as a Cup Final. Tickets aren't that expensive and there are usually a lot of offers flying around.
Leeds / Bradford will never be as big a game as Wigan / Saints either - don't forget that'"
I can understand that but I honestly would support the club if we chose to play a huge game at Eastlands, but we would never do it as it's more Salfords territory.
Don't forget either that your derby once drew 24k. It has more potential!

I am not in favour of it,maybe i'm an old "whatyoucallit",but Maybe it would work if they marketed one game, but right now that game would only be "WIGAN".
When i lived in Leeds my friday nights used to be 4 pints in my local in kirkstall after the game,I loved it ,but I did'nt mind those wcc on a sunday across the city.
I think it would work, but only against Wigan

982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

| Quote: Andy Gilder "Did you happen to see Question of Sport by any chance, which featured two RL related "identify the player" type questions which neither side were able to get?
The first one was Andy Platt, so I can cut a bit of slack there. If you weren't interested in the game in the late 80s, early 90s you probably wouldn't know who Andy Platt was.
The second however was Jamie Peacock, who Phil Tufnell incorrectly identified from the picture board as Wladimir Klitschko.
If two teams of people involved in professional sport can't identify two great rugby league players of the past and present, why would advertisers be interested in using them to endorse their products?'"
Phil Tuffnel should not be used as a benchmark for anything.
Who watches question of Sport these days anyway? Not the target audience for our marketable players.

Why? Bradford is your biggest game of the season with the most away support...

| I don’t know if it has already been mentioned but Bradford has just run a massive marketing campaign (loosely based on some Harry Potter bollox) to try and generate a crowd in excess of 20K for last weeks clash against Leeds.
They failed.
If a campaign that involved mailshoting every Bulls season ticket holder, flyer distribution at Headingley, posters and £60 season tickets couldn’t generate a 20K+ crowd at Odsal then the chances of filling ER are, at the best, remote.

It maybe ,but ive just got a big hunch that playing and marketing a game at a football venue,it would only be Wigan where it would work at this moment in Time

7098.jpg [quote="G1":1x8x7ghm]Nice one Andy. You articulated a differing opinion given reasons and substance.
There's really no place for the likes of you on Substandard. [/quote:1x8x7ghm]:7098.jpg |

Certainly wrong on the first point. You and saints are both miles bigger.
2nd point might be right but not by much. I reckon Wigan bring more at the moment if I had to put my neck on the line
