Today will be a particularly grumpy day, for I should not be here, I should be in Digbeth, for in a pub in Digbeth today will be a table set with christmas cake and cheese, and I am not there.

I have just taken deliveryof our Christmas cake from the mother in law. She used to make them for a living before she retired but still likes to keep us is cake. She also did our wedding cake and I had to spend months trying different cakes out to decide which was best!

My Mrs-to-be bakes. Quite a lot. Often come home to fresh bread. She's making a cheesecake for Christmas Day (having already made a Christmas Cake), so I've had 8 different cheesecakes over the past 4 weeks to make sure the one for the family is spot on.

Cheesecake!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I bought biscuits in Aldi this morning, for solace.

Chocolate biscuits, I sat and ate them all at one go, I feel sick now and I'm still missing that cake.

You should have purchased some of their stollen.

The boss has been baking today, under my supervision obviously.
Nutty, chocolate & blueberry biscuits.
Plain & coffee shortbread.
Cupcakes of some description.
She's now on with stollen rolls, mince pies then sticky toffee puddings to finish with.
Then she wonders why I can't lose weight.
Savoury baking tomorrow plus panna cotta & chocolate mousses.
I hope my new shirt fits me on Boxing Day.

I've just nipped home to pick up my camera (niece's concert) and we're onto batch 9 of Cheesecake. This is the last one I'm allowed to eat before a decision needs to be made as to which one we're going for.

The current leader is White Chocolate & Baileys.

There's some mince pies in the oven too, and apparently she's made the mincemeat from scratch too!
